Carnie Wilson was advised by her father Brian of the Beach Boys to be cautious around sharks in the music industry.
AXS TV's new celebrity cooking show, "Sounds Delicious," premiered this month with Carnie Wilson as the host.
Before her fame, Carnie Wilson's father cautioned her about the music industry.
"Wilson shared with Planet Chronicle Digital that her father, Brian Wilson, 81, who co-founded the Beach Boys in 1961, gave her little advice other than a business warning like "Watch out for the people that try to get you." He was more focused on teaching her music skills."
But she said her mom gave her more advice than her dad.
"Growing up, she frequently discussed karma and the importance of being compassionate, loving others, and spreading positivity while maintaining an optimistic outlook."
Marilyn Wilson-Rutherford, a 76-year-old singer, views the world as a "glass half full," and her daughter shares the same perspective.
In 1968, Rutherford, who was married to Brian Wilson, gave birth to Carnie. The couple divorced in 1979.
Brian Wilson, the co-founder of the Beach Boys and Carnie's dad, advised her to be cautious of sharks.
In 1989, Wilson Phillips was formed by Carnie and Chynna Phillips, along with their younger sister Wendy.
Wilson shared with Planet Chronicle Digital that she has attempted to impart her mother's optimism to her children, who are currently in the "teenage phase" and often express a pessimistic outlook, saying, "It's never going to get better."
"I consistently share my knowledge, encourage self-belief, recognize imperfection, strive for goodness, and believe in my abilities to achieve my goals, regardless of others' opinions."
Wilson stated that while she acknowledges the existence of limitations in life, she refuses to believe in them because she has overcome obstacles and can continue to do so. She believes that people are too hard on themselves.
Whenever she feels down, she makes an effort to focus on the things she's thankful for.
"I am grateful for the blessings in my life, such as having two hands and legs, being able to walk, having a roof, and food. This is what motivates me to believe in God, as there are so many people who do not have these basic necessities."
Carnie Wilson's new cooking show, "Sounds Delicious with Carnie Wilson," featuring her cooking for celebrity friends, debuted on April 16 on AXS TV.
She has long desired to do a cooking show and began posting cooking segments on Instagram during the pandemic.
"For many, many years, I have been praying for the right team and concept," she told Planet Chronicle Digital. "I always knew it would happen when the timing was right. It took a long time, but I think sometimes things are worth the wait."
