Carly Pearce reveals that her mother scolded her for using profanity during a confrontation with a heckler at a concert.
The 17th annual Academy of Country Music Honors was hosted by Pearce and singer-songwriter Jordan Davis.
Carly Pearce responded to the criticism she faced following her use of profanity to address a disruptive audience member during a performance last month.
At WE Fest in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, a 34-year-old singer removed a rude fan from the venue while performing.
Pearce, who hosted the 17th annual Academy of Country Music Honors with singer-songwriter Jordan Davis, revealed to Planet Chronicle Digital that her own mother, Jackie Slusser, was among the people who had taken issue with the language she used while scolding a heckler.
The "I Hope You're Happy Now" hitmaker said in a joint interview with Davis, "Of course, people were like, ‘You could have used a different word’ or ‘You could have had a little bit more reserve.’ And my mom agreed."
Pearce stated, "She replied, 'You didn't need to use that word.' To which I responded, 'I comprehend.'"
"Although we're artists and pour our hearts and souls into our performances, there are numerous topics I haven't addressed."
"As a woman in country music, I've observed that when my female friends in the industry do something that's considered cool, it's often attributed to their gender, but when I do the same thing, it's seen as disrespectful."
"She was like, 'You didn't have to say that word.' And I was like, ‘I understand.’" — Carly Pearce
"Ultimately, I want individuals to advocate for themselves, Pearce stated. "It's crucial not to mistreat others, whether through social media or in person. We are all human beings, and it's simply not acceptable. I believe people should strive to be kinder."
"If you don't want to hear me sing, that guy didn't need to go get a beer. I don't care, and I don't want you here anyways."
Carly Pearce reveals that her mother scolded her for using profanity during a concert in response to a heckler.
A video of a heated argument was posted on X, showing a man being escorted out of the Soo Pass Ranch during a festival.
""You're an a--hole, get out of my show," Pearce shouted from the stage, pointing directly at someone."
"I don't have time for nonsense," she declared, earning applause from the audience. "Take care!"
Several social media users claimed that Pearce was addressing her life story to the crowd when a man shouted, "No one cares." At the time, Pearce's representative did not respond to Planet Chronicle Digital's request for comment on the incident.
After being kicked out of the show, a video shows Pearce apologizing to her father, Todd Slusser, who had attended the event.
"If you're an a--hole, you have to leave, I'm sorry Daddy."
On stage, Pearce stated, "I have never before expelled someone from one of my shows, but if someone is disrespectful and mean to me, they are not welcome."
Since the incident, Pearce has not ejected any other fans from her shows, according to her statement to Planet Chronicle Digital.
Pearce's call-out was "absolutely loved" by Davis, who added that he "loved every second of it." As a result, he believes that she won't have to worry about hecklers anymore.
"They saw a different side," Pearce agreed. "That Kentucky side has always been there. Don't mess with me."
CMA Honors co-hosts Carly Pearce and Jordan Davis discussed their favorite moments from the awards ceremony.
During his Standing Room Only Tour ‘24, country musician Tim McGraw had an injury that required orthopedic surgery on both knees, leading to the cancellation of the remaining 2024 dates.
In May, Pearce disclosed that she had to modify her performances on the Standing Room Only Tour '24 due to a health problem.
In May, the singer disclosed on her Instagram that she had been diagnosed with pericarditis, a heart condition.
"I've been collaborating with physicians and communicating with my cardiologist, yet I remain determined to continue performing on stage. Although it is crucial to me, we have collectively agreed that it is in my best interest to modify my shows slightly as I recover," she stated in her video.
Pearce explained that if his shows appear different, it's because he must maintain a controlled heart rate, which does not indicate any health issues, but rather requires him to take the situation seriously at the moment.
In an interview with Planet Chronicle Digital, Pearce provided an update on her health status.
"Not exercising is challenging. I'm doing well," she said. "It's something I'm still working on, but it's moving in the right direction, which is positive. And I feel almost normal."
Pearce added, "However, I believe it's crucial to remain vigilant. I hope my story serves as a reminder to listen to your gut instincts, even if you think you're doing everything right. Sometimes, things can still go wrong."
For the fourth year in a row, the musician has returned to host the ACM Honors alongside Davis, who has been performing at the show for the past two years. Pearce and Davis told Planet Chronicle Digital that hosting the show together was special for them since they had been friends from their early days when they were both struggling artists.
"Pearce stated, "We've known each other for many years, and during that time, he was a bartender, and I was an AirBnB cleaner. Seeing our careers have similarities over the past six years is exciting, but joining forces on something together is even more enjoyable.""
Another highlight was when the two agreed to pay tribute to Alan Jackson, who received the ACM Poet's Award alongside Walt Aldridge.
"It's an honor to thank Alan Jackson, who has been a huge influence to both of us and many other country artists," Davis said. "What a legend! It was special to cap off the night by saying thank you to him."

Chris Stapleton was lauded as the ACM Artist-songwriter of the year by Pearce.
"She declared that she would spend the entire day discussing Chris Stapleton, a one-of-a-kind singer and true artist who remains unwavering in his musical style, performances, and beliefs."
""His artistic integrity inspires me a lot," she said."
"She added, "I don't believe he thinks about it, he just is confident in being himself and doesn't need to wear blinders because he doesn't care what others think of him. He'll do it his way, and I think there's a strength and confidence in that. And it doesn't hurt that you're one of the greatest singers of all time.""
Luke Bryan was awarded the Lifting Lives Awards at a ceremony held on Aug. 21 at Nashville's Ryman Auditorium. The award recognizes a country music artist, duo/group, or industry professional who is "devoted to improving lives through the power of music, possesses a generous spirit and is committed to serving others."
Davis, who previously collaborated with Bryan on the successful 2021 song "Buy Dirt," which was named song of the year at the 56th annual Country Music Association Awards, spoke with Planet Chronicle Digital about his friendship with Bryan and how the "Country Girl" star had supported him throughout the years.
"From the moment I met Luke, he was always a helpful person. The day I met him, he gave me his number and told me to call him if I needed any assistance. He meant it."
Being a part of 'Buy Dirt' was life-changing for me, as Luke is not only a funny guy in country music but also an amazing artist and one of the top entertainers in the genre.
"Although I believe that the amount of assistance he provides with charity is often overlooked, it was truly remarkable that he was recognized and honored that evening for his outstanding contributions through Farm Tour and his organizations. Despite this, he consistently goes above and beyond to assist with any charitable endeavor. Therefore, it was a unique opportunity to highlight Luke's exceptional work on that particular night."
The 17th Academy of Country Music Honors will be broadcast on Merit Street on September 24th at 9pm ET/8pm CT/6pm PT.
