Candace Cameron Bure and Danica McKellar skip kissing scenes to spare their husbands' discomfort.
The Great American Family Christmas Festival, hosted by 90s stars, is happening until December 24.
Candace Cameron Bure and Danica McKellar are spreading holiday joy this season.
The Great American Family Channel appointed Bure as its chief creative officer in 2022, and the two kicked off the winter holiday with the first ever Great American Family Christmas Festival at the Northwell Park at USB Arena in New York.
Bure, known as the "Queen of Christmas Movies," has experienced her share of on-screen romantic kisses during the holiday season. In an interview with Planet Chronicle Digital, she shared how her husband reacts to her romantic scenes and how it has affected their marriage.
According to the "Full House" star, it's never comfortable to watch your spouse in the arms of someone, even if it's just a peck or a kiss, regardless of whether you're an actor or not.
The actress who starred in "Home Sweet Christmas" stated that her husband has been "extremely supportive" and is "incredibly proud" of all her endeavors.
"We engage in open and truthful discussions. He expresses, "I'm not interested in watching that part" and "I don't want to put you through that." However, we managed to overcome those emotions and reached a point where we both feel content and encouraged."
"The Wonder Years" actress revealed that her husband dislikes when she acts in romantic scenes, and both actresses admitted to fast-forwarding or going to a commercial when such scenes occur.
"I don't think it's as comfortable for anybody … it's just never comfortable to watch your spouse in the arms of someone." — Candace Cameron Bure
McKellar also has another way to deal with it.
As the scene unfolded in the movie, she leaned in and kissed him, eliciting a chuckle from Bure.
In June 1996, Bure tied the knot with former NHL player Valeri Bure. The couple share three kids: Natasha, Lev, and Maxim.
McKellar, who stars in "A Cinderella Christmas Ball" on Great American Family, has a 14-year-old son, Draco, with ex-husband Mike Verta. She is currently married to attorney Scott Sveslosky, who also has a son from a previous relationship.
Since Bure first took McKellar to church, the two celebrity friends have formed a strong bond through their shared faith. McKellar stated that this experience has significantly impacted her lifestyle, as she mentioned during her recent interview with Planet Chronicle Digital, just an hour before speaking with them, she was listening to her "Bible recap."
"I can't comprehend how I managed life prior to this moment, and I'm unsure how I coped with things," McKellar stated. "There's a tranquility that transcends understanding."
"My life is stressful, but having faith in my relationship is everything. I wish that same joy for others. I am excited about Great American Family because it focuses on faith, family, and country. We can help people find that light."
Bure has starred in multiple Christmas movies, including "A Christmas Less Traveled" and "Let it Snow," and has been in the business for over a decade. She shared her secret to creating compelling holiday content with Planet Chronicle Digital.
"Making these movies is something I love. I never imagined that my first one, made 15 years ago, would lead to such a massive genre," she said.
"Despite my efforts to stop, people continue to request them because they hold a special place in their hearts. These items evoke emotions and have personal significance, whether they represent a new tradition started by their own families or a connection to our movies."
Her character discovered a recorded message from her late father on an old audio cassette, and she received positive comments for her film, "A Christmas Less Traveled."
The movie has touched fans and helped them through the holidays, with some viewers relating to the story of losing their parents.
"That's why I keep making them," Bure remarked.
McKellar has been both acting and writing for Great American Family Media, and recently starred in her 11th Christmas movie, which was produced by Hallmark.
McKellar stated to Planet Chronicle Digital that she remains devoted to Bill Abbott, the former Hallmark CEO and current Great American Media CEO.
"Bill revived my career and made me a part of the rom-com genre, including Christmas rom-coms. I am so grateful to him and will always be."
The Great American Family's first-ever Christmas festival was the result of Bure's explanation of the company's decision to create a holiday experience.
Bure shared with Planet Chronicle Digital that they have long dreamed of creating a Christmas experience for families, similar to what is seen in their movies.
At the holiday event, attendees can capture memories with Santa, skate on an icy rink, and indulge in delicious cuisine and amusing activities. Additionally, fans can meet celebrities, such as Mario Lopez, who stars in "Once Upon a Christmas Wish."
D.J. Tanner, portrayed by Bure, gained popularity on "Full House," alongside Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, Jodie Sweetin, John Stamos, Bob Saget, and Dave Coulier.
Recently, Coulier disclosed that he has been diagnosed with stage 3 non-Hodgkin lymphoma. She stated that they have maintained a close friendship and she communicates with him almost daily.
"She shared with Planet Chronicle Digital that he is one of her closest friends and feels like family to her. The news of his passing is devastating, but she and others are hopeful and praying for his recovery. They are doing everything they can to support him."
Stamos faced criticism for standing in solidarity with Coulier by wearing a bald cap on social media.
Bure was taken aback by the criticism of the photo from her fans.
"Dave wants to cope with his diagnosis through humor, and John is one of his closest friends who has been there for him. However, people handle such situations differently, and the backlash has been unexpected. Despite this, I know that everyone's intentions were pure."
The Great American Family Christmas Festival is scheduled to run until Dec. 24.
