California's Lack of Preparation for LA Fires Labeled 'Absolutely Despicable' by Lorenzo Lamas
Lorenzo Lamas, star of 'Falcon Crest,' criticized LA's poor preparation for disasters following the Palisades Fire's destruction of his hometown.
California bureaucracy was criticized by Lorenzo Lamas for not having a plan of action before the Palisades Fire devastated his hometown.
The Los Angeles fires could have been avoided if better disaster preparation methods had been implemented, claimed Lamas, a 66-year-old native of Santa Monica and Pacific Palisades.
The actor who played "Falcon Crest" was furious about the fires and wondered how so many things could have gone wrong.
""The fires have been devastating, and my four daughters in Los Angeles are safe. I've lost friends, including Vernon Wells from 'Mad Max' and his wife, Grace, who were in the Palisades and lost everything," Lamas exclusively told Planet Chronicle Digital from his home in Idaho as he recovers from hip surgery."
"I am so angry because I believe this could have been prevented."
Lamas stated, "If this occurred a year from now, we would likely have a different set of circumstances. At least, I believe Los Angeles would have been better prepared a year from now than we are currently, particularly from an administrative standpoint."
Many local residents, including Lamas, tuned into news broadcasts to check if their childhood homes survived the disaster.

"I'm praying for the people affected by this fire who have lost everything, including themselves and their families. It's absolutely despicable."
As a child, the "Renegade" star grew up near the beach and remembered how disaster preparedness was a common practice, even then.
For over 55 years, I resided in Southern California, and we would frequently practice diving under tables during earthquakes. However, we never anticipated fires posing such a significant threat," Lamas stated. "The lack of preparation is truly astonishing.
"In a city where we are familiar with all seasons, there is a risk of fire. Despite this, we did not have enough water to put out these fires. It's been said that the pump pressure was not able to reach the hoses. Can you believe it? It turns out that there simply wasn't enough water in the reservoirs."
On Wednesday, the Department of Forestry and Fire Protection stated that the Palisades Fire had burned 23,713 acres and was now 19% contained. Since its start on Tuesday, January 7, the fire has resulted in eight fatalities and more than 2,100 structures are believed to have been destroyed or damaged.
"It's just the lack of preparation. I'm telling you. It's just the lack of preparation is staggering." — Lorenzo Lamas
The Eaton Fire, which began on January 7 in Altadena, has burned 14,117 acres and is currently 45% contained. The fire has resulted in 16 fatalities and is estimated to have caused more than 4,600 structures to be damaged or destroyed.
Actress Patricia Heaton says we can't rely on the government after the LA fires destroyed the city.
Lamas, who spent decades in Los Angeles, now resides in Idaho and recently underwent hip replacement surgery due to arthritis.
"Lamas stated that he had a bone-on-bone condition for a year, which made him uncomfortable with not having mobility. He had always been active and it was time for a change. He had his hip replaced at Northwest Orthopaedic in Spokane, Washington, under the guidance of Dr. Jay Wojcik, a skilled sports medicine specialist. Now, Lamas is doing exceptionally well."
During his recovery process, he leaned on his daughter Alexandra for additional assistance, emphasizing the significance of having support at home.
In October, Lamas marked his first wedding anniversary with wife Kenna Nicole Scott, whom he has been dating for five years and frequently shares their love on social media.
He confessed that there is one secret to maintaining their relationship intact and remaining connected.
"Lamas emphasized the importance of communication, forgiveness, and maturity in relationships. He stated that communication is crucial, and forgiveness is a significant component of it. Additionally, he pointed out that relationships require two people, and blaming each other will not lead to peace. Instead, it is essential to take responsibility and work together to make or break the relationship."
