Being a Hollywood star is less fulfilling than race car driving, according to Frankie Muniz.
Recently, the former star of 'Malcom in the Middle' teamed up with Spirit Airlines to advertise its new 'Go Comfy' travel option.
Despite leaving his acting career in Los Angeles several years ago, Frankie Muniz has no regrets.
Muniz, now 38, took a hiatus from acting after "Malcolm in the Middle" ended in 2006 to focus on professional race car driving. He tells Planet Chronicle Digital exclusively that he has never regretted this decision.
"As an actor, I have been fortunate to do a lot of great things, and people often tell me how much they love my show or specific aspects of it. However, I understand that it's all based on opinion. On the other hand, as a race car driver, success is not subjective. It's clear-cut: you either win and are the fastest or you're slow."
"Muniz stated that he was thrown off when he shifted his career, but he enjoys taking risks and fully committing to new endeavors. He believes in being the best at whatever he does and is not interested in having hobbies. If he cannot dedicate time and effort to something, he will not do it. Muniz wants to avoid being mediocre and finds it unfulfilling."
Muniz, who has recently partnered with Spirit Airlines to promote their new 'Go Comfy' travel option, competed in the Formula BMW USA Championship in 2006 and then raced in the ChampCar Atlantic Championship from 2007 to 2009. In 2009, Muniz was fourth in the championship standings. He had two races to go before a season-ending injury resulted in multiple surgeries. He returned to racing in 2021 and currently competes part-time in various races.
Although he enjoys racing now, Muniz admitted that he still yearns for certain elements of his previous acting career.
"In 2006, when "Malcolm" ended, I began racing professionally. At that time, I was determined to focus solely on racing, regardless of the offer or amount of money. If I was competing against the best drivers in the world, I knew I had to dedicate my life to it. This experience has given me a greater appreciation for my past accomplishments."
Frankie Muniz explains why he finds racing cars more fulfilling than being a Hollywood star.
"He stated, "When I undertake projects, I approach them with a mindset of giving my utmost effort, ensuring a positive experience for all involved. Although I miss it, I am content with the level of commitment I bring to my work.""
"Last year, I did a movie that was one of the most challenging roles I've ever played. Despite the difficulty, I loved every moment of it. On set, even though my focus is still on racing, I realized I could do more acting. We'll see what the future holds, but right now, my focus is 100% on racing."
Besides his racing achievements, Muniz has gained notoriety for relocating from Los Angeles and expressing his negative views about the city.
On September 10th, Muniz expressed his dislike for Los Angeles on social media, stating, "Upon arriving in Los Angeles 23 minutes ago, I am already repulsed by this wretched city."
The tweet, which garnered approximately 150k likes and 14.4 million views, sparked mixed reactions on social media, with some fully supporting his statement and others condemning his hasty judgment.
"I knew I wouldn't like that city before I even arrived," Muniz said to Planet Chronicle Digital. "I had a preconceived image in my mind of what it would be like, but the airport made everything so difficult. It was a frustrating experience."
"He added, 'I said it kind of vaguely,' and then tweeted it. It went viral, with both agreeing and hating parties. He had a lot of people on both sides."
Muniz, residing in Scottsdale, Arizona with his wife Paige Price and their 3-year-old son, finds it amusing when individuals become upset with his opinions on LA, as he has personally experienced life and work in the city.

"I've been fortunate to live in many places, and I find it amusing that people who may reside in Los Angeles are offended by my comment. I lived there, and I know what life was like there. I also know what life is like in Arizona, and I don't like this one."
""I need to be in the desert," he stated."
Muniz, who travels nationwide for different races, expressed excitement about partnering with Spirit Airlines, who is offering 10 pairs of Go Comfy tickets in the #NotInTheMiddle social media giveaway.
"I've accumulated 529,000 airline miles this year due to my busy racing schedule and constant travel," he stated. "In essence, I've made my home in airports and airplanes."
"I believe I was the best person to spread the message of the thrill of not being trapped in the middle," Muniz stated about the new travel feature, which includes a blocked middle seat, one checked and one carry-on bag, priority boarding, and a snack and non-alcoholic beverage.
