Before achieving massive success, Ray Romano quit stand-up comedy twice.
In 1987, Ray Romano started his stand-up career.
During the early days of his stand-up career, Ray Romano was "beaten down," causing him to quit.
Romano's family accompanied him during the premiere of his Netflix series "No Good Deed." He married Anna in 1987 and they share four children: daughter Alexandra, twin sons Matthew and Gregory, and son Joseph.
In November, Romano's twin sons, 31, released their documentary, "The Romano Twins." In the documentary, the "Everybody Loves Raymond" star discussed how he gave all of his children advice when it came to their careers and revealed that he quit his dreams not once, but twice.
Joseph Romano, the youngest son of the star, embarked on a little stand-up trip and visited small dives. He tried stand-up for the first time, but the people weren't facing the stage, and there weren't even any people in the audience. Of course, it didn't go well, and he took it very personally.
"I had to almost grab him and say, "You don't understand. First of all, you can't do well in a place like that, and you can't do well when it's your first time onstage. So, I understand you're hurt, but you really have no right to be upset right now.""

Stand-up comedy can be time-consuming. I told him not to get defensive because that's how I felt. I quit twice. The first time, I was beaten down. I quit again, but this time, I tried again and was successful.
"I gave it up twice. You know, I got beat down my first time. I gave it up, and I got beat down the second time again." — Ray Romano
At the premiere, Romano told Planet Chronicle Digital that his chemistry with Kudrow in the upcoming comedy-thriller series was instant.
"From the beginning, I had never met her. We were filming our TV shows, 'Friends' and 'Everybody Loves Raymond', on the Warner Brothers lot, two stages apart, and we still had never met."
"Romano was a bit concerned at first, but she quickly put him at ease. He had always been a fan of hers, and she had been a fan of his. They bonded over their shared neuroticism and insecurity, and the chemistry between them was undeniable. Sometimes, relationships just click, and this one did."
From the beginning, Ray Romano and Lisa Kudrow had great chemistry on 'No Good Deed'.
Romano revealed that Kudrow was a fan of "Everybody Loves Raymond," which he initially found hard to believe. For seven years, Kudrow was unaware that the cast and crew for Romano's sitcom were being filmed two stages away.
Romano explained, "She said, 'Well, but I've watched every episode,' and I thought she was just trying to make up for it. But then, over the course, she started quoting episodes and lines, and I knew she was telling the truth. So it was kind of cool."
According to Kudrow, her on-screen chemistry with Romano appeared satisfactory to her.
"We were filming our shows on the same lot. He claims that I didn't realize he was there... I didn't because we were focused on our show's set, but I'm not sure. I just felt like I would like him if I ever got the chance to meet him."
In 'No Good Deed,' Lisa Kudrow discusses on-screen chemistry with Ray Romano.
"And I did," Kudrow said with a smile.
During the pandemic, Kudrow discovered that she had the time to catch up on "Everybody Loves Raymond."
Both "Friends" and "Everybody Loves Raymond" aired on television for a total of 19 seasons from September 1994 to May 2005.
The Netflix series "No Good Deed" highlights the challenges of finding a suitable home and the lengths people will go to safeguard their secrets during the search process. It premieres on Dec. 12.
