At the Palm Springs Film Festival, Nicole Kidman shed tears while dedicating an award to her deceased mother.

At the Palm Springs Film Festival, Nicole Kidman cried while dedicating her International Star Award to her deceased mother, Janelle Ann Kidman.
During the 36th annual International Film Awards gala on Friday, Jamie Lee Curtis presented the 57-year-old actress with an award.
During her acceptance speech at the Venice Film Festival, where she won the best actress award for her performance in "Babygirl," Kidman became emotional and shared that she was still grieving the loss of her mother, who passed away in early September 2024.
"I want to dedicate this award because I didn't get to do that at the Venice Film Festival," Kidman said tearfully. "I arrived in Venice, and she was gone."
She remembered asking Halina Reijn, the director of "Babygirl," to accept the award in Venice on her behalf.
"Now I'm back here on stage, and the audience is applauding," Kidman stated.
She wiped away tears as Curtis reached over and clasped her hand, saying, "Thank you for giving me the chance to say, 'This is for my mom.'"
Kidman stated that her whole career has been dedicated to her parents, who are no longer with her. However, she continues to work and contribute to the world because she enjoys what she does. She also expressed her love and gratitude for the film community.
"I apologize for crying. I didn't intend to, but I feel my mother's presence. This is for you, Mama."
Kidman's father, Antony Kidman, died in 2014.
In Venice, Reijn accepted Kidman's award and shared a statement from the "Moulin Rouge" star about his mother's passing.

"Upon my arrival in Venice, I discovered that my mother, Janelle Ann Kidman, had recently passed away. In a statement, Kidman expressed her shock and the need to be with her family. However, she emphasized that this award was for her mother, who had greatly influenced and shaped her."
A spokesperson for Kidman stated to Planet Chronicle Digital that the family is grieving and kindly requests privacy during this difficult time.
"Babygirl" premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival on Sept. 10, but Kidman was absent.
On September 12th, Kidman and her sister, Antonia Kidman, expressed their appreciation for the assistance they received while dealing with the loss of their mother.
Our family and I want to express our gratitude for the overwhelming love and kindness we have received this week.
"Our Mother's loved ones' messages have been cherished by us more than words can convey. We appreciate your consideration of our privacy as we grieve together."
The erotic thriller "Babygirl," starring Kidman, Banderas, and Dickinson, garnered her a best actress nomination at the Golden Globe Awards, which will be televised on Sunday night.
Taylor Sheridan's Paramount+ series "Lioness," starring Kidman, is currently in its second season and premiered in October. In the upcoming Amazon Prime Video show "Scarpetta," based on Patricia Cornwell's book series, Kidman will next appear.
In "Scarpetta," Kidman will portray Curtis's sister, and both actresses are also serving as executive producers.
At the "Lioness" premiere on Oct. 23, Kidman shared her thoughts on her recent career success.
She told The Hollywood Reporter that she wished her mama was there, as that would be the one thing she'd say. Despite everything being great with work, she longed for her mother's presence.
