At LSU, 21-year-old Timothy Wayne signs a record deal while his uncle, Tim McGraw, produces his music.
Though McGraw is producing Wayne's music, the up-and-coming country star is doing the rest of the work himself.
This LSU student went beyond studying the Civil War and speaking Italian fluently, and instead spent his year doodling his name on desks.
An up-and-coming country music artist, Timothy Wayne, followed in the footsteps of his uncle, country music legend Tim McGraw, and signed his first major record deal with UMG and Capitol Records.
"Wayne told Planet Chronicle Digital that he always wanted to be on stage, loved performing, and never experienced stage fright. However, he never thought he could do it until people believed in him and he started believing in himself."
He said, "It felt like time slowed down while I was signing."
The lieutenant governor of Louisiana invited Wayne, a 21-year-old musician, to perform on the Louisiana state float at the Rose Bowl Parade on January 1, 2025, after he released two original songs, "God Made a Country Boy" and "Guy With a Guitar."
"I believed someone was joking with me when I was asked to perform," Wayne stated. "I had little knowledge about the Rose Bowl prior to the event, but I knew Lainey Wilson had previously done it."
Although inspired by Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson, and influenced by his Italian grandmother's love for Tony Bennett and Frank Sinatra, Wayne only began to truly focus on music recently.
"Being invited to represent my family and the state I love was surreal for me, especially since I had just started making waves."
Wayne, who is programmed to master music, is produced by McGraw and Gallimore, but he writes his own music, collaborates with his bandmates, and expresses his own story through vocals.
"Wayne revealed to Planet Chronicle Digital that McGraw is the biggest supporter of the idea. He said, "When I first started getting into music in high school, McGraw told me, 'I'll produce you, but that's it. You have to forge your own path.'""
"Wayne said, "I love being his nephew. I always make a joke that he works for me. I was like, ‘Tim McGraw is my employee.’""
Wayne acknowledges his mom and Sandy Howard, McGraw's sister, for managing the majority of the workload.
""My mom relieves a lot of stress from me and ensures a smooth experience before and after the show," he stated."
He stated that his father, along with her, introduced him to the '80s hairband rock 'n' roll genre, which includes bands like Kiss and Poison, and helped him discover the music style he enjoys.
"Wayne stated that he is a big fan of rock 'n' roll and while country music primarily focuses on storytelling, he enjoys adding an extra kick when it's not a love story."
In the "Standing Room Only" tour earlier this year, Wayne showcased his talents by joining the bus ride to three shows.
"Touring was not long enough," he said.
In 2025, Lee Brice invited Wayne to join him on stage for a country music tour.
"I was ecstatic when I received the invitation to perform in Mississippi for his "You, Me and My Guitar" show in February."
