In the midst of the devastating wildfires in Southern California, Los Angeles City Fire Department Chief Kristin Crowley has declared the situation one of the most destructive natural disasters in the city's history. Despite the chaos, some celebrities are stepping up to assist.
On Thursday, Jamie Lee Curtis announced that her family will be donating $1 million to support relief efforts.
My husband and I and our children have pledged $1 million from our Family Foundation to start a fund of support for our great city and state and the great people who live and love there as the fire still rages on and @calfire @losangelesfiredepartment and all the available first responders and agencies involved in fighting fire and saving lives are still hard at work and neighbors and friends are banding together to save each other.
She stated that she was in touch with Governor Newsom, Mayor Bass, and Senator Schiff regarding the allocation of funds for maximum impact.
The actress, known for her legendary status, informed her followers that she intends to provide regular updates on where resources can be sent to trustworthy organizations.
Since yesterday, Curtis has been frequently posting about the fires, expressing concern for her community and the possibility of losing her home despite her family's safety.
Although her house remains intact, she later informed her followers that her neighborhood has disappeared, while a local church in Pacific Palisades was destroyed.
The church, she explained, is a beautiful house of worship and was the building where she got sober 25 years ago.
I remember the countless souls who sought comfort and solace at that place, as well as the numerous baptisms, funerals, weddings, and the countless lives that were reclaimed through Sobriety. Additionally, the women's club in the Palisades, where I met many sober individuals. Unfortunately, both are now gone. Tough times. We will endure. God bless you all.
On Wednesday night, Curtis emotionally shared on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" that his home city, Pacific Palisades, was on fire.
She flew to New York City for Fallon's show and said that while on the flight, she received messages from friends, describing the situation as "f---ing gnarly."
She encouraged viewers to assist in any way possible during her interview, whether through donations, blood donations, or simply checking on loved ones. Additionally, she suggested that viewers prepare emergency kits for their families in case of sudden evacuation.
Many celebrities, including Jennifer Aniston, Jessica Alba, and Khloé Kardashian, have been providing guidance on how to assist those impacted by the fires.
Mayim Bialik shared on Instagram that she's lost power in her home, but provided links to donate.
