Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's winery dispute will be heard in court.
In 2022, Angelina Jolie was sued by Brad Pitt for breach of contract over the sale of Château Miraval.
Their yearslong winery dispute is likely to lead to a trial for Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie.
A judge ruled that Pitt's claims against Jolie in 2022 can proceed to trial, as confirmed by Planet Chronicle Digital on Monday. Pitt alleged that Jolie breached their contract when she sold her shares of their winery to the Stoli Group without his knowledge.
According to Planet Chronicle Digital, the judge ruled that Pitt and Jolie had an implied contract and a verbal agreement, and there was a written agreement regarding shares in the holding company.
Jolie was asked by Pitt to reverse the sale of her stake in Miraval to Yuri Shefler in order to resolve the matter outside of court. However, a representative for Jolie did not respond to Planet Chronicle Digital's request for comment.
In 2008, the former couple acquired a controlling stake in Château Miraval and spent time there together throughout their relationship. Jolie attempted to sell her company, Nouvel, to Tenute Del Mondo, a subsidiary of the Stoli Group, in 2021, effectively transferring her 50% ownership interest in Miraval. However, Pitt has challenged this sale, claiming it violated their contract.
Pitt has been accused of orchestrating a "vindictive campaign" to "loot" Jolie's profitable business since she filed for divorce in 2016.
Pitt was accused by Nouvel of "hijacking" Château Miraval and "wasting" the company's assets on unnecessary renovation projects, including spending $1 million on swimming pool renovations, according to court documents obtained by Planet Chronicle Digital.
Jolie's source claimed that Pitt was offered the chance to purchase her share in Miraval, but he refused to finalize the sale unless she kept quiet about the alleged domestic abuse.
Despite Mr. Pitt's repeated attempts to modify his complaint, he cannot evade the truth that he attacked Ms. Jolie and their children, including physically and verbally assaulting them and even choking one of the children and hitting another, according to the source.
"Despite the seven years that have passed since the plane ride, Mr. Pitt has never publicly denied that it occurred. The fact that he is now suing his ex-wife to protect his family is difficult to comprehend, given that the children have not been able to return to the house in France for almost seven years due to the events that led to Ms. Jolie filing for divorce."
The winery battle is a straightforward business dispute, according to a source previously told Planet Chronicle Digital.
Unfortunately, the other side has consistently introduced personal elements into the business dispute, which have exposed the weaknesses in their case and complicated and lengthened the proceedings, the source stated.
