Nicole Kidman almost gave up her acting career for farm life.
In 2008, after giving birth to her first child with husband Keith Urban, Kidman, 57, considered quitting.
"During a recent interview on "CBS Sunday Morning," Kidman shared that when she gave birth to Sunday, she felt like she was done. She had moved to Nashville and was living on a farm at the time. However, her mother told her not to give up completely and to keep her finger in it."
"I'm saying, 'No, no. I'm finished now. I'm done.'"
"When I gave birth to Sunday, I was like, ‘I think I’m pretty much done now.' I’d moved to Nashville, we were living on a farm, and that’s when my mom actually said, ‘I wouldn’t give up completely. Keep your finger, sort of like, in it.’" — Nicole Kidman
However, Kidman's mom was insistent with her advice.
"She's saying, 'Just listen to me. I think you should keep moving forward. You don't have to do it to the same extent, but don't give it up completely.'"
Kidman has starred in blockbuster films such as "Rabbit Hole," "Just Go With It," and "Bombshell," and has also landed roles in popular TV series including "Big Little Lies," "The Undoing," "Nine Perfect Strangers," and "The Perfect Couple."
At home in Tennessee with her children and husband, Kidman is a typical "citizen".
The actress, who won an Oscar, is involved in community service by buying diapers for a school drive and visiting a children's hospital.
"In an interview with Elle magazine, Kidman stated, "I enjoy being a part of something unrelated to my work or identity. I simply want to be a citizen in the world, and my kids appreciate that aspect of me.""
In Hollywood, Kidman is recognized as one of the most accomplished actresses. She gained fame for her roles in "Being the Ricardos," "Cold Mountain," and "Moulin Rouge!". Additionally, she established her own production company, Blossom Films, in 2010. The company has produced projects such as "Rabbit Hole," "Big Little Lies," "The Undoing," "Nine Perfect Strangers," and most recently, "Expats."
At the New York premiere of "Expats," Kidman, who was recently appointed an ambassador for Balenciaga, wore a gown from Atelier Versace.
"She confessed to Elle that sometimes it felt surreal, like she wanted to remove her dress and put on pajamas. It was the opposite of Cinderella, where she was content to return home and be herself. She felt overwhelmed and longed to go back to her comfortable space, curl up, and feel real."
"She stated, "My life is full with loved ones, including daughters, husband, best friend, sister, and aunt. I have intimate relationships with people, and to me, that is the essence of life. Additionally, taking care of what we leave behind, who we leave behind, and our sense of respect for that is crucial.""
Kidman has four children, two daughters, Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret, with Urban, and two kids, Bella and Connor, with her ex-husband, Tom Cruise.
