AI may lead to the extinction of certain jobs, predicts Black Eyed Peas star.
An AI persona will be featured in a new series called "CONVOS" launched by will.i.am, which will showcase artists engaging with the persona.
will.i.am doesn’t think true artists should worry about artificial intelligence.
"The only concern is if you're creating music to follow an algorithm," he said to Planet Chronicle Digital. "If you're making music to become popular on TikTok, you need to decipher the codes to that platform. If that's your main focus, AI will outperform you."
The singer of the Black Eyed Peas believes that those not involved in the creative process in the music industry should be concerned about AI replacing their jobs.
The individuals at risk of AI in the music industry are managers, label executives, finance auditors, and attorneys. Microsoft's AI assistant, Copilot, is being developed to enhance these systems, with no slowing down in progress. Copilot will be used across various industries in the 2025 version eight.
"No army or fleet of AI music is capable of performing everything to the level of copilots or sales force agents. Therefore, musicians and hyper-creatives are acceptable. We will use AI to revolutionize and create a new industry."
AI is a mirror that reflects what we've created, but it doesn't create things that don't exist. We are the ones who created AI, so it simply mimics what we've made.
BLACK EYED PEAS STAR DISCUSSES AI'S CREATIVE CAPABILITIES AND LIMITATIONS
For several years, will.i.am has been involved with AI-related platforms and tech, including his app FYI, which is an AI-powered tool designed to help creatives with productivity through messaging and file management features, as well as content publishing to create an all-in-one experience.
The FYI.AI app is now launching a content series called "CONVOS," where artists and creatives engage in one-on-one conversations with the AI person.
"Musicians and hyper creatives are okay. We're going to use AI and reinvent and create a whole new industry because of it." — will.i.am
"Colors," a French series that inspired will.i.am, reminded him of his experiences promoting music and improvising material, which led him to connect with his app's AI personas to create something unique.
"I wondered if there was a way to have a different type of performance that involved conversation. After the conversation, the principal, artist, and creative jams out with poetry or a song. Because that's what a song or creative endeavor is about - the discovery process," he said.
Will.i.am stated that the objective was to enhance the interaction between humans and AI through a more playful and engaging approach.
"When you're conversing with yourself, it's like a different version of that. You're not speaking to yourself, but rather to a chalkboard or banter board that provides real-time reflection without being awkward."
Will.i.am suggests that conversationalists can sometimes exhaust others, and that this is not an interview but a banter with intelligence on the other end to provide feedback without judgment.

The FYI.AI assists musicians and artists in developing lyrics and new material during "CONVOS" episodes, offering feedback and suggestions to help them complete their songs.
While will.i.am is satisfied with his AI app's offerings, he advises people to scrutinize the answers and comments it provides.
"Right now, AI does a good job of everything that we've created and can mimic it. But AI is not making things that don't exist exist. We do that." — will.i.am
"At the same time, push the AI. It's not holy," he said.
He continued, "It’s not some precious wall that whatever it says is. There's a lot of people that what they read on social media, on Twitter, or they see on a post [and think] ‘It's got to be real. Well, it has to [have] been real. Look. It's trending.’ No, bro. Those are motherf---ing bots. You just think you're talking to a f---ing human."
With FYI.AI, you know you're interacting with an AI assistant. You understand that it's not a human, and no one is lying to you. So, feel free to push it to get the information you need. However, be aware of what you're talking to and use it for research purposes. But don't get too caught up in the fun and forget to stay focused, as will.i.am cautions.
"The artwork contains some truth, but if it seems too good to be true, don't believe it."
