After leaving his farm life behind for a music career, country star Zach Top admits that 'life moves too fast.'
Zach Top, a singer known for his love of cold beer and country music, is up for new artist of the year at the 2024 CMA Awards.
Pursuing a career in country music has made Zach Top feel like "life's too fast" compared to his fond memories of growing up on a farm in Sunnyside, Washington.
Top, the nominee for the new artist of the year award at the 2024 CMAs, revealed that his lifestyle has undergone the most significant transformation since he left his rural upbringing.
Life moves too fast, too," the "Cold Beer & Country Music" singer remarked. "It seemed slow-moving, but I guess it always is when you're a kid. Every day felt like a routine, and the biggest thing was waking up in the same spot when I was growing up.
"I never wake up in the same town anymore. I wake up somewhere else and have to figure out my location each morning. While there are many changes that I'm grateful for, there are some that I'd rather live without. It makes me miss my childhood, I suppose."
His family's farm was more of a leisure activity than a source of income for him during his childhood.
"Our farm was more of a hobby than a money-making venture. We had a variety of animals, including goats, chickens, cows, and horses. My dad was involved in the livestock industry and ran a commercial ranch as well as a sale barn."
Zach Top admits that he feels like life is moving too quickly after leaving his farm life to pursue a career in music.
From a young age, Top learned to care for animals, work diligently, and get his hands dirty on the family ranch in Washington.
Growing up on that farm was a wonderful experience, filled with fond memories. I cherish the time spent around animals and the skills I learned while working there. Looking back, I believe it was a valuable and unique way to grow up.
"I look back on growing up on that farm with only fond memories. It was awesome getting to grow up around animals and, you know, learning how to work like that and everything. I think it was really valuable and a cool way to grow up." — Zach Top
Top no longer spends enough time working on his family's farm since he began focusing on country music.
"I spend most of my time on this bus waiting to play music, and it feels like a waste of time," he said. "I try to get outside as much as possible, but it's more enjoyable to go golfing or hiking than just sitting around. It feels like a vacation to be outdoors."

The 2024 CMA Awards will feature Luke Bryan, Peyton Manning, and Lainey Wilson as co-hosts. Top, who gained a nomination this year, released his debut album "Cold Beer & Country Music" in the spring.
Someone texted him "congratulations" and he learned he was nominated, Top told Planet Chronicle Digital.
Someone texted me congratulations, but I didn't know why. So, I asked, "Thanks, for what?" They then sent me a screenshot from Instagram showing that I was on the nominations. I replied, "Thanks, that's pretty cool."
Top's debut album garnered over 4 million streams in its first week, bringing him a sense of relief as he realized his fans were enjoying his new music.
Zach Top believes that his music connects with fans because it encompasses the full spectrum of the human experience.
Top's music resonates with his fans because he sings about relatable topics.
"Everyone can relate to songs that have a universal appeal, regardless of their age or life stage," he stated.
"Hold your beer high and stomp your boot, Top said. Party tunes and heartbreak tunes, love songs too. You know country music's range, which is what makes it great - it tells stories that make people feel understood and seen, no matter where they are in life."
