After being shamed for his weight, Jelly Roll underwent half-marathon training and transformed himself.
Lainey Wilson and the country star received their first Academy of Country Music award for 'Save Me' on Thursday.
Jelly Roll is training for a half-marathon!
The country star, who has lost 50 to 75 pounds and is still losing weight, plans to run a 13.1-mile race next year after completing some shorter races first.
"The "Need a Favor" singer stated that the training process for him is an 18-month journey, and his goal is to complete another couple of 5Ks before moving on to a half-marathon in the fall."
The 39-year-old finished his first 5K (3.1 miles) on May 7 at the Rose Bowl after taking up the 5K By May challenge issued by Bert Kreischer and Tom Segura at the beginning of the year for the 2 Bears 5K.
"He shared with Entertainment Tonight that he couldn't walk a mile when he started this project in January. However, he felt really good about accomplishing three-point-whatever it was today."
He mentioned that he had shed approximately fifty to seventy-something pounds during his 5K training.
Jason Bradley DeFord, also known as Jelly Roll, has openly discussed his struggles with losing weight throughout his life. In 2018, he shared on Instagram that he weighed over 500 pounds in 2015 before beginning his health journey and losing 200 pounds.
The 5K was "incredible," said the individual to Planet Chronicle Digital. However, he added that he had the privilege of participating in the event with friends and family. He walked the race with Bert Kreischer and was supported by his entire crew. The experience was "really, really cool," he exclaimed.

On Thursday at the Academy of Country Music Awards, he expressed excitement about performing his new song "Liar" and hoped that one of the four times his name was mentioned, it would be called. He joked that it was like being in an old movie, having a beer, and then seeing his own Instagram post. With just one award, he was ready to party.
Jelly Roll definitely had a reason to celebrate by the end of the night in Texas, as he had won his first ACM for music event of the year for "Save Me" with Lainey Wilson.
"I never imagined I'd be standing here!" he exclaimed, visibly moved.
"I believed I would perish and be incarcerated, but here I am as an ACM award recipient! Texas, you know what I'm saying? Let's go, baby!"
In the beginning of the program, he made a jest regarding his "Beautifully Broken" tour: "Who would have imagined Jelly Roll would be a wholesome occasion?"

Bunny Xo, Jelly Roll's wife, disclosed that the singer was stepping away from social media because of criticism regarding his weight.
"My husband left the internet because he is tired of being bullied about his weight," she said on her "Dumb Blonde" podcast. "That makes me want to cry because he is the sweetest person."
"Bunnie Xo shared that her husband hides his vulnerability from others, but she will reveal a personal moment that causes him pain."
