The actor, who is 65 years old, gained popularity through his role on the TV sitcom from 1989 to 1997. He shared the screen with Ed O'Neill, Katey Sagal, Christina Applegate, David Faustino, and Amanda Bearse.

In an interview with Planet Chronicle Digital, McGinley disclosed whether he had kept in touch with his "Married... With Children" co-stars.

McGinley admitted that one of his biggest flaws in life, among many, is his tendency to simply move on without addressing issues.

Although we were friendly when we ran into each other, I believe it was mainly due to my family responsibilities, having young kids and a wife. Afterward, I moved to New York for work.

"McGinley stated, "I continued on, as I don't use social media and can't connect like others do. It's not my interest, so I just move forward.""

If Ed O'Neill and I were to run into each other having coffee early in the morning or a beer late at night, it would be an amazing time. The same goes for Amanda. I have run into her, and it's always a unique experience.

"I struggle to connect with others consistently, as it is challenging for me."

"With Children" is FOX's longest-running live action show, airing 259 episodes over 11 seasons from 1987 to 1997. The show followed the lives of the dysfunctional, working-class Bundy family, including Al (O'Neill), Peggy (Sagal), Kelly (Applegate), and Bud (Faustino).

The show centered on the relationship between the Bundys and their materialistic, yuppie neighbors, Marcy and Steve Rhoades. Following the departure of Steve Rhoades after the fourth season in 1990, Jefferson D'Arcy, an ex-CIA agent turned white-collar criminal, joined the cast to replace him. He became Marcy's "trophy" husband after she divorced Steve.

Despite being a ratings hit and a pioneering show for its era, "Married... With Children" faced criticism for its suggestive content.

McGinley stated that he likes to select projects from diverse genres while transitioning from "Married… With Children" to "The Baxters."

An actor's life often involves switching between different roles and genres, such as faith-based movies and shows like "Shrinking," which are diametrically opposed in many ways.

Working on "The Baxters" is enjoyable because I believe it's crucial. The audience is eager for quality content, making it an honor to contribute. Despite this, I remain interested in exploring various types of content.

"Last year, my wife and I created a Western film that is challenging to watch in certain ways. The range of emotions and themes is broad, making it engaging. I don't want to limit myself to one type of work."

"The Baxters," a TV series based on Karen Kingsbury's bestselling book series, follows the Baxter family, including patriarch John (McGinley) and matriarch Elizabeth (Roma Downey Jr.), and their adult children as they navigate life's highs and lows, both with and without God.

Kari, Elizabeth and John's daughter, discovers that her professor husband, Tim, has been secretly having an affair with one of his college students in the first season of "The Baxters."

"Kari must rely on her faith and family to determine if love is a choice and if her marriage can be salvaged. Through their faith-based journey, the Baxters must unite as a family to overcome life's obstacles."

In an interview with Planet Chronicle Digital, McGinley revealed that he felt he had been preparing for the role of John for years, highlighting the similarities between himself and his character.

"It's crucial that his family is included in that world as well," McGinley emphasized.

"As a father and a man, I can relate to that. I have read at least eight books, possibly ten."

I understood who the Baxters were and who John Baxter was," he said. "It's an honor to play, but also scary because Karen Kingsbury has written 25 to 26 books on the Baxters.

McGinley continued, "She sold 25 million copies, and her readers are familiar with her characters. You need to embody John Baxter when entering this world."

"I believe that at some point, people may say they didn't notice her or him because they had been reading for so long. However, as time goes on, they will realize they did see them. Nevertheless, the preparation was within my range of experience."

The actress, who is also an executive producer, founded LightWorkers Media with her husband, Mark Burnett. The Christian media and film production company is now owned by Amazon MGM Studios after Amazon acquired its parent company.

During an interview with Planet Chronicle Digital, McGinley praised his "gorgeous" collaboration with Downey.

"Roma is like a warm blanket," he said. "She's amazing. We bonded instantly on our first day together, and it only got better from there."

McGinley and Rice, who have been married for over 32 years and share sons Beau, 29, and Quinn, 27, have built a friendship with Downey and Burnett off set.

"My wife and I have visited Mark and Roma's house. We're friends. We're friends off the ice," he said. "They're amazing people. But, Roma, when you work with her, it feels like a comforting warmth that wraps around you. She's wonderful. She's always there for you. She's incredibly generous."

Although "The Baxter" book series is well-liked, McGinley stated that the TV series may not appeal to everyone.

"Roma Downey has characterized it as a 'hope opera,' he stated. Thus, it is a soap opera. However, I would advise giving it a chance."

In 1982, McGinley made his acting debut on "Happy Days," an eighth-season episode that focused on the lives of the Cunningham family and their friends. He portrayed Roger Phillips, the nephew of Howard and Marion Cunningham, who were played by Tom Bosley and Marion Ross.

In 1980, when Ron Howard left the show, McGinley was brought on board to play a character that would serve as a contrast to Henry Winkler's beloved character, Arthur "Fonzie" Fonzarelli.

In 1982, McGinley admitted to The Morning Call that he was uneasy about rewatching his early "Happy Days" episodes.

"I was surprised they didn't let me go," he remarked. "I realized I needed to practice my lines at home and focus on the set before my cues. It was all so new to me. I was stumbling around, and I heard about Ronny Howard, who only forgot his lines twice in 7½ years."

McGinley committed to studying other actors' performances in order to improve his own acting skills, as he shared with Planet Chronicle Digital.

I was scared when I first arrived, but I learned through experience," McGinley stated. "That was my on-the-job training.

"I was as much of a sponge as I could possibly be. I never left the set. I never went to my room to hang out. I watched. I would go to tapings of the sitcom 'Mork and Mindy' and sit in the stands and watch. I was always trying to just see what was going on and trying to make myself feel more comfortable."

Following the end of "Happy Days" in 1984, McGinley joined the cast of the popular comedy-drama series "The Love Boat," which took place on a cruise ship. He remembered feeling comfortable on set due to the warm welcome he received from his fellow actors.

He remembered how when he arrived at "Love Boat," the group welcomed him with open arms and said, "Come on in."

I felt like I was part of the team because they were so kind, generous, and wonderful to me. We traveled around the world together, and you went first class, which was an incredible experience.

"Aaron Spelling and Doug Cramer, the creators of 'Love Boat,' were thanked with a laugh. Those were great days."

McGinley remembered his travels to new destinations such as Leningrad, Russia (Saint Petersburg), Copenhagen, Denmark, and the Rock of Gibraltar.

"We went everywhere, and it was so cool. It put the travel bug in me like no other," he said.

"After having kids, we stopped traveling," McKinley said, chuckling.

"The Baxters" will premiere March 28 on Amazon Prime Video.
