Actor Sam Elliott, known for his role in 'Dr. Quinn,' reflects on the Palisades Fire and its similarities to the aftermath of Hiroshima.
In the recent fires that ravaged Los Angeles, Joe Lando's Pacific Palisades home was destroyed.
Joe Lando is devastated after losing his home in the Palisades Fire.
In an interview with Planet Chronicle Digital on Thursday, "Dr. Quinn" revealed that since clearing his mind, he has come to understand the extent of the harm caused to his community in Pacific Palisades.
Lando expressed his frustration as he replayed the events of the morning, realizing how many things could have made the situation less disastrous.
The actor stated, "My neighborhood resembles Hiroshima."
Carusoville, a portion of Pacific Palisades, remains intact, as observed by Lando.
"Rick Caruso, a land developer-builder, purchased a portion of our town and constructed stores there. He had a private fire department on Tuesday, which is the only thing remaining. You can hit one of his buildings from my house with a rock."
"I mean, my neighborhood looks like Hiroshima." — Joe Lando
Lando stated that Caruso, a Pacific Palisades resident, was merely attempting to safeguard what belonged to him, a choice that many locals also made, including Lando himself.
Christian and I remained behind to battle the fire for several hours. We poured water onto our respective roofs, as stated by him.
"But I was concerned.

Lando stated, "If that catches fire, it will spread to my house and other neighbors. We were hosing down each other's homes for a while. Gradually, people started leaving. Christian and I remained until the very end."
Eventually, Lando and his son were forced to vacate their residence. Initially, they sought refuge at his son's apartment in Santa Monica, where they encountered familiar faces from their old neighborhood who had migrated to the coast to flee the fires.
Lando stated that if it were only his house, the situation wouldn't be as difficult to endure. However, since it affects everyone and everything they are familiar with, it's a global issue. It's their world.
According to Planet Chronicle Digital, he stated that many of his neighbors, including himself, may never be able to rebuild after the Palisades Fire.

The three-bedroom, two-bath houses that belonged to elderly folks were destroyed by a fire. Lando said he doesn't know if he'll be able to rebuild because Allstate dropped his insurance three months before the fire.
Lando expressed frustration and mentioned a reservoir behind his house that had been "dry" for the past 18 months.
He said that if helicopters could have been to the fire in seconds instead of going to the ocean and filling up, it would have been more efficient because the fire was nearby.
Lando said he is "convinced" someone started the Palisades Fire.
I immediately recognized the location. It wasn't the weather, a fallen power line, a gardener hitting a rock, or anything similar.
Lando stated that it was Skull Rock and someone entered. They started the fire, and it spread from one spot to two to three spots, eventually becoming five spots. The wind was strong at that time. It's possible that all the other spots were caused by the first fire. However, Lando is certain that the very first puff of smoke at 9 was a man starting this fire.
Joe Lando remained at his home to safeguard it against the Palisades Fire, accompanied by his son.
Officials have stated that they have not yet determined the cause of the Palisades Fire, despite Lando not being the first celebrity to propose the arson theory.
On January 9th, investigators were dispatched to Pacific Palisades to trace the source of the fire that destroyed numerous structures.
At the time, Los Angeles Fire Chief Kristin Crowley stated that the cause of the fire is still unknown and the investigation is ongoing.
Lando thanked the firefighters and first responders who saved Pacific Palisades during his interview with Planet Chronicle Digital, acknowledging that it's an emotional time for him.
"First, I want to thank all the firefighters, first responders, and individuals who tried to save our homes. Their job is incredibly dangerous, and we often take it for granted until we experience what I just went through with my son and family," he stated.
Jane Seymour welcomed her "Dr. Quinn" co-star into her home while he was evacuating.
Lando and his wife spent the night in a hotel where things were still burning out of control. The air was very smoky, and Jane suggested they go up to a higher place where the air was clear. Although there was no water or power there, it was a safe place.
Joe Lando expressed gratitude towards God for having someone like Jane Seymour in his life.
"I am grateful for people like Jane, who bring out the best in us. Tragedies have a way of doing this, and if we can hold onto these positive feelings, we can use them to uplift each other during difficult times."
