A report claims that Prince Harry's pal describes him as an 'angry boy' in America.
The Duke of Sussex, reportedly residing in the affluent coastal city of Montecito, is believed to have a strained relationship with his brother, Prince William, and their father, King Charles III.
Prince Harry is reportedly "an angry young man" due to being estranged from his family and loved ones in the UK.
An unnamed friend of Harry's, who is one of his oldest, spoke to The UK Sunday Times about the rare WhatsApp messages he receives from the Duke of Sussex. The friend made the claim that Harry is among the few people who receive these messages. The conversation took place ahead of Harry's 40th birthday in September.
"The pal stated that the boy is angry because things haven't gone as planned. The boy misses being in Britain and wants more admiration. People who know him believe he would prefer to be a pop star in Britain, like his older brother and sister-in-law, William and Kate."
"He’s an angry boy. Things haven’t turned out how he wanted. I think he misses being over here [in Britain] desperately and wants to be admired more." — Prince Harry's pal
Harry, 39, did not immediately respond to Planet Chronicle Digital's request for comment regarding the report.
According to Hilary Fordwich, a British royals expert, her sources who are familiar with Harry's friends believe the claims to be true.
After the release of tell-alls, Prince Harry's future remains uncertain, according to a royal expert.
"According to Fordwich, many American Brits, especially those from England, are defined by two sayings. The first, "You can take the boy out of England, but you can't take England out of the boy," reflects their deep emotional connection to England. The second, "This precious stone set in the silver sea... This blessed plot, this Earth, this realm, this England," comes from Shakespeare and highlights their pride in their national identity."
Since his royal exit in 2020, the size of Harry's friend circle has decreased significantly, as he admitted in his Netflix docuseries "Harry & Meghan." He stated, "I miss my friends... I’ve lost a few friends in this process."
Harry's friend revealed to the media that many people are still unable to forgive the prince for publicly expressing his complaints after leaving the royal family.
"I can't believe he would stoop so low," said the pal. "It's outrageously disloyal. Oprah, Netflix, and then the book? Three strikes and you're out."
"Another friend of William and Harry's stated that Harry and Meghan could have left with grace and integrity without damaging the institution. Instead, they chose to profit from defaming his family."
Harry has a strained relationship with his family and has seen his father infrequently since the couple quit royal duties in 2020. The couple cited unbearable intrusions and racist attitudes of the British press as the reasons for stepping back as senior royals. Harry's father has since detailed his rocky relationship with his family in TV interviews, a documentary, and his memoir, "Spare."
After leaving, Harry initiated a legal battle against the U.K. government's decision to deny him police protection upon his return to Britain.
Harry stated that he and his family were at risk in his home country due to hostility towards him and his wife. Additionally, the couple experienced intense harassment from the British media. According to his lawyers, the prince believes it is unsafe to bring his children to the U.K.
A government lawyer stated that Harry was treated fairly and received protection during some of his visits.
According to royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams, Harry gave up his family and close friends to build a new life with Meghan and their children in California.
"According to Fitzwilliams, there have been consistent rumors that he has undergone a transformation. In his memoir "Spare," it was revealed that he felt the need for a justification to live a different life. Since his mother's untimely death, he has been in therapy and is emotionally fragile."
"Fitzwilliams stated, "Although he misses certain aspects of his life in Britain, he is a staunch advocate for press freedom and police protection. I envision his future as a partner to Meghan in her potential political career or in their philanthropic endeavors together.""
The report states that Harry's pursuit of freedom resulted in significant consequences. His relationship with William has been irreparably damaged, and his relationship with King Charles is strained to the breaking point. Additionally, his ties with the rest of the royal family have been harmed due to the truth bombs he has thrown.
A source who has known Harry since his teenage years told the outlet that while it's important for him to have a happy, settled family life, more needs to be done if he's to achieve this.
The source stated that he is now isolated from his family and old friends in an environment where friendships are not like those formed in youth. Although he enjoyed socializing in pubs and country outings with friends, the source believes he has changed and may not be suited for the Californian lifestyle.
"What does Harry have left after seeing it all play out? On the surface, he has an enviable lifestyle, but I know he doesn't want to be in the gilded exile in California."
As Meghan hangs out with old friends, Harry has been forced to make new connections in California.
Before moving to the U.S., my friend claimed that he noticed Harry drifting away from his longtime friends.
"The friend lamented, "It was disheartening to see him lose his friends. He used to have many visitors, including army mates and polo friends. However, they gradually dwindled. Then it was the yoga and well-being gurus, who encouraged us to eat less meat and fly less. We were all perplexed as they took private jets.""
Harry's spokesperson issued a statement in May, suggesting that the king was too occupied to meet with his son when Harry returned to London to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games.
The king, who is fighting cancer, agreed to Harry's request to stay at a royal residence, but Harry opted to stay at a hotel. The Duke of Sussex reportedly turned down the monarch's offer because it lacked sufficient security. The king, 75, was reportedly bemused by Harry's decision to stay at a hotel instead of Buckingham Palace, one of the country's most protected buildings.
According to Royal expert Ian Pelham Turner, there is anger "on all sides."
"Harry exposed the royal family's secrets, damaging their image and perceived as a betrayal, according to Pelham Turner. Meghan stood up for herself and refused to be vilified, despite rumors from royal confidants. Harry and Meghan initially brought modern values to the monarchy, but their popularity in certain areas exceeded that of other royals, causing problems."
"That was a disaster waiting to happen," Pelham Turner added.
Since the Sussexes visited the U.K. in June 2022 for Queen Elizabeth II's Platinum Jubilee, the outlet reported that the king hasn't seen his grandchildren in person. Additionally, it was stated that William, who has a strained relationship with his brother, rarely discusses Harry.
"Helena Chard, a British broadcaster and photographer, claimed to Planet Chronicle Digital that William and Harry are estranged and have been for years. She stated that Harry has committed the worst form of betrayal and disrespect by airing his family’s dirty laundry in public. Chard believes that Prince William views Prince Harry as a nuisance and irrelevant to his future, and she doesn't see the brothers making up anytime soon."
Not all of Harry's friends share the same opinion about Prince Harry's life in America.
Christopher Andersen, author of "The King," told Planet Chronicle Digital that he strongly disagrees with the negative assessment of Harry's time in the U.S.
Andersen claimed that he maintains close contact with his old U.K. friends and has recently made new American friends.
"Would he like to reconcile with his father and brother and take on a unique role as a part-time working royal during this challenging time when King Charles and Princess Kate are fighting cancer? Of course! Harry has made amends with them on multiple occasions, but William and the king are resistant."
"Andersen asserted that Harry is undoubtedly saddened by these developments, but he is currently enjoying his family in what most people would consider paradise - an estate in Montecito surrounded by some of the biggest names in the entertainment industry. Additionally, Harry and Meghan have aggressively pursued a wide range of philanthropic and business interests that keep them more than busy."
Andersen stated that the Sussexes are not living sad, empty, and isolated lives like the Duke and Duchess of Windsor, despite the temptation to do so, as their detractors in the U.K. may imagine.
