"American Idol" is no stranger to Adam Lambert.
As a runner-up on an early season of a singing competition show, Lambert began his career in the music industry. Currently, he is offering his thoughts on the empty judges' seat, specifically suggesting a replacement for Katy Perry.
"During an appearance on "Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen," the singer stated that she believed LeAnn Rimes would excel in the role."
I worked with LeAnn Rimes on 'The Voice' in Australia, and she's a lovely, down-to-earth person with a great sense of humor. She's also very spiritual and deep.
For many years, Rimes has been a renowned country music artist, gaining fame after covering Bill Mack's "Blue" at the age of 13 in 1996. Since then, she has consistently released music, with her latest album "God's Work" released in 2022.
Rimes' representative did not promptly respond to Planet Chronicle Digital's inquiry for comment.
In 2009, Lambert competed on "American Idol" and finished as the first runner-up to Kris Allen. Despite not winning the top prize, he has established a successful career in the music industry.
In February, after seven seasons as a judge on the hit show, Perry announced her departure.
During an appearance on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!", she stated that she believed this would likely be her final show and season on "Idol".
"I love 'Idol' so much," she said. "It connects me with the heart of America, but I need to go out and feel the pulse to my own beat."
She confessed that she hadn't informed fellow judges Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan about her plans, stating that they would discover the news along with everyone else. She added, "All pop star girls will be thrilled to know that I have some exciting things planned for this year!"
In April, Bryan revealed on the "Taste of Country Nights" radio show that he had heard rumors about her considering ending her relationship with Kimmel, but it wasn't a big surprise since she had been caught up in the moment during their announcement.
"Katy and I have had a great friendship and have been working together for a long time. I was there before her daughter was born, and now her daughter is three years old," he said.
In April, Perry herself suggested a possible replacement: Jelly Roll.
"Jelly Roll was a convincing speaker when he appeared on the show," she said. "I believed anything he said. He could run for president, be my pastor, make me go back to church, and sell me anything."
Kelly Clarkson, the original winner of the show, has publicly expressed interest in becoming a judge on the panel.
"No," she replied simply. "I can't do that because I made a promise to my children. I said, 'I want to be there as much as possible.' It would have put me in L.A., which is why I had to quit 'The Voice.'"
