Rescue efforts intensify for missing teen in Colorado storm drain
Video evidence reveals law enforcement finding the teenage suspect.
A teenager with a developmental disability in Colorado was found safe in a storm drain and returned home by local law enforcement.
The community of Aurora banded together to search for Donnel "Tupac" Tolliver after he went missing at 6:50 p.m. on Sunday. Multiple Colorado law enforcement agencies, including the state Bureau of Investigation, joined forces with residents to "mobilize the community" in the search for Tolliver.
The police appreciated each team's efforts, which were crucial.
Police discovered Tolliver stuck in a storm drain at approximately 12:30 p.m. on Monday.
Video footage from a police bodycam showed Tolliver positioned inside a sizable storm drain, enclosed by a locked steel grate, while law enforcement and firefighters worked diligently to extract him safely.
""Do you need a protein bar, buddy?" the authorities are heard saying in the footage."
Bolt cutters were used by authorities to free Tolliver, who was then taken to a hospital for evaluation.
The successful search for the child was a result of a collective effort, and we thank all those who contributed to the safe location, the police stated.
In the comments, residents praised the first responders' heartwarming effort.
"Wonderful job, the best thing I've seen all day," one person commented.
"The public rarely sees incidents involving the APD and LE in general," another wrote.
