The jury has reached a verdict in the death of Cash App founder.
The verdict in the case will be announced on Tuesday in San Francisco Superior Court.
On Monday afternoon, a San Francisco jury delivered a verdict in the high-profile murder case of Nima Momeni, the man accused of killing Cash App founder Bob Lee in 2020.
The jury's verdict will be announced in San Francisco Superior Court on Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. local time, after deliberations began on October 4 and continued until December 4.
In April 2023, Momeni, a 40-year-old tech entrepreneur, was accused by prosecutors of stabbing Lee three times with a knife from Momeni's sister's kitchen set.
It was reported that Momeni was responsible for the murder following the Cash App founder's introduction of his sister to a drug dealer who allegedly gave her GHB and other drugs before sexually assaulting her at his apartment. GHB is a nervous system depressant.
Prosecutors claim that Momeni led Lee to a secluded area near the Bay Bridge, where he fatally stabbed him. According to KTVU FOX 2, Lee's blood was discovered on the knife's blade, and Momeni's DNA was found on the handle.
Momeni's lawyer argued that he stabbed Lee in self-defense as Lee tried to attack him over a bad joke while on a multi-day drug and alcohol binge.
If found guilty, Momeni could face 26 years to life in prison. During trial, he testified that Lee walked away later, showing no signs of injury.
During closing arguments, attorneys for Momeni presented a bombshell surveillance video that they claim shows Lee using a knife to snort cocaine hours before his death. They contended that this was the same knife that Lee used to confront their client over a joke, which led to the altercation.
Momeni testified that he stopped his car after hitting a pothole that caused Lee to spill the beer he was holding. He then joked that Lee should spend the last night of his visit with family instead of trying to find a strip club to keep the party going.
He attacked with a knife pulled from his jacket pocket.
The two men were seen exiting the condo of Khazar Momeni's sister at approximately 2 a.m. on April 4, 2023, and entering Momeni's BMW.
Near the Bay Bridge, where the stabbing occurred, other surveillance footage showed them exiting the car.
At 2:30 a.m., on a deserted downtown San Francisco street, Lee was discovered, bloodied and disoriented, and he called for assistance. Unfortunately, he passed away at a hospital.
While visiting the Bay Area, Lee, who resided in Miami, was tragically killed.
According to KRON, Momeni said that he made a bad joke and said he would spend his last night in town with his family instead of going to strip clubs. This angered the other person, who exploded in front of him, going from zero to one hundred in anger.
Momeni's story has been mocked by the prosecution, who pointed out that he did not call the police to report Lee's alleged attack, nor did he contact them after learning that Lee had died from stab wounds in the location where he had last seen him.
In 2013, while working at Block (formerly Square), Lee developed the Cash App, a digital wallet that enables users to send, receive, or save money.
