Moderate to severe injuries result from California plane crash
On Sunday, a single-engine plane crashed at a California racing facility, injuring at least three people and interrupting a drag racing competition.
The NHRA Drag Racing finals were taking place at the Pomona Dragstrip when the crash occurred around 11 a.m. on Sunday.
At least three people sustained "moderate to severe injuries" in the incident reported by the Los Angeles County Fire Department on X.
""A single engine plane crashed at 11:10 AM, resulting in the transport of 3 passengers with moderate to severe injuries to local area hospitals," the social media post states."
The FAA confirmed to Planet Chronicle Digital that the plane crash involved hitting two vehicles on its descent.
"On Sunday, November 17, at approximately 11:40 a.m. local time near La Verne, California, a single-engine Piper PA-32 crashed, striking two vehicles, according to the FAA."
"The FAA will investigate the unknown number of people on board."
Several first responders were seen working near the wrecked plane in pictures from the scene. The plane had crushed a white truck during the crash, and the damaged vehicle was only a few feet away from the wreckage.
The NHRA later announced on Facebook that racing resumed at 1 p.m. local time after the racing finals were paused due to an incident.
The Los Angeles County Fire Department was contacted by Planet Chronicle Digital for additional details.
Investigations are underway regarding the incident, but no further information is currently available.
Pomona is about 30 miles east of Los Angeles.
