Trent Williams and his wife Sondra are grieving the loss of their newborn son.
Last month, Sondra Williams announced the death of their child.
On Sunday, Trent Williams, an offensive lineman for the San Francisco 49ers, and his wife, Sondra, shared the tragic news that their newborn child had passed away.
Sondra Williams honored her son, Trenton O'Brien Williams Jr., through a video and caption.
She wrote about the difficult experience of saying goodbye to her baby, who had passed away at just 4 pounds and 8 ounces on November 24th, 2024. Despite being only 35 weeks old, the baby's arrival had a significant impact and did not allow for an epidural. She was grateful for the support of her aunt, Katina, who cut the cord, and nurse Hannah during the delivery.
"Despite my efforts to prepare for our meeting, I was not ready, nor would I ever be. After losing your twin early in the pregnancy, I prayed and hoped that your diagnosis of Trisomy 13 was not true and would not be the fate of my long-awaited beautiful Son-shine. My firstborn and only son, I have always wanted you, but God wanted and needed you more. Knowing that you are in Heaven with your Great-Aunt Vivian and that you will always be our Guardian Angel brings me great comfort in the midst of all this sorrow. My heart is heavy. Being home without you in my arms has been quite an adjustment. Knowing that I will never be able to watch you grow older alongside your sisters has my eyes filled with tears."
Williams recalled the indescribable feeling of leaving the hospital.
Leaving the hospital without you was unbearable, and being home for Thanksgiving without my baby was heartbreaking. My heart aches and my arms are empty, but I am grateful for your constant presence and watchful eye over me and your sisters.
"I am grateful for the 35 weeks we spent bonding and the opportunity for me to give birth to you so I could hold you in my arms. I am at peace knowing you will never have to suffer. Although I won't hear your soft coos and cries or see those beautiful little eyes staring up at me, I am thankful for the time I shared with you. Madison loved listening to your heartbeat and watching your movements in my tummy. Trenton O'Brien Williams Jr., my sweet baby boy, we love you our Forever Angel."
Trent Williams missed Sunday night’s game against the Buffalo Bills.
