After Trevor Lawrence's injury, the Jaguars sign a Super Bowl champion quarterback.
The Rams won a Super Bowl with John Wolford.
On Tuesday, the Jacksonville Jaguars acquired a Super Bowl champion quarterback to their roster after suffering a significant injury to their depth chart over the weekend.
Azeez Al-Shaair of the Houston Texans inflicted a concussion on Trevor Lawrence during a violent tackle, resulting in a three-game suspension for the defender. Lawrence's condition prior to Sunday's game against the Tennessee Titans is currently uncertain.
He must still clear the concussion protocol and ensure that the sprained AC joint he was managing was also healed.
The Jaguars signed John Wolford to the quarterback room and could be the backup for Mac Jones if Lawrence is ruled out for the game against the Titans.
During the 2021 season, Wolford was a member of the Los Angeles Rams' Super Bowl team. In his career, he has played in seven games, starting four of them. He has accumulated 626 passing yards and one touchdown pass in that time frame. In those four starts, he has a record of 2-2.
Wolford began his career with the New York Jets as an undrafted free agent in 2018. He later joined the Rams in 2019 and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2023. The Buccaneers released him before the start of the 2024 season.
Jacksonville also has C.J. Beathard on its roster as well.
Despite being ranked No. 30 in the latest Planet Chronicle Digital Sports NFL power rankings, the Jaguars have a 2-10 record this season.
