Report: Judge rules on bail for Ravens fan accused of assaulting Commanders fans.
In October, Baltimore police received Jack Callis, a 24-year-old man, who surrendered himself.
The Baltimore Ravens fan who attacked two Commanders fans in October will remain in jail until his trial, as a Maryland judge denied him bail for a second time due to his substance abuse problems.
On Tuesday, Baltimore Circuit Judge Yolanda A. Tanner decided to deny bail for 24-year-old Jack Callis because no viable inpatient care options were presented in court, according to The Baltimore Banner.
"Instead of discussing new developments and available options, today's meeting turned into a heated argument," Tanner reportedly stated. "I am deeply disappointed with the information presented by counsel."
During his first hearing on Oct. 23, District Judge LaTina Burse Greene refused to release Callis on bail but indicated that she would consider allowing him to undergo inpatient treatment with home detention.
On Oct. 21, just days after being accused of assaulting two Washington Commanders fans, Callis surrendered to Baltimore Police. The incident, which was recorded on video and spread rapidly on social media, depicted Callis aggressively approaching the men in the street and attacking them.
According to the video, Callis, who was wearing a Lamar Jackson jersey, punched one of the men repeatedly and then threw him against a wall. He is currently facing one count of first-degree assault and three counts of second-degree assault.
During his first bail hearing, Callis confessed to using cocaine daily for the past four years, including the day of the attack, according to CBS News. Additionally, a history of assaults was disclosed during the hearing.
Callis could receive a maximum of 25 years in prison for the first-degree assault charge and up to 10 years in prison for each second-degree assault charge.
