Kirk Herbstreit of ESPN calls for stricter penalties for players involved in flag fights.
Over the weekend, several flag-planting incidents led to multiple conflicts.
ESPN's college football analyst, Kirk Herbstreit, advocated for harsher penalties for the players involved in the weekend's flag fights.
During the Arizona State-Arizona game, a pitchfork was planted at midfield by Sun Devils players, resulting in a fourth fight.
The Big Ten Conference imposed $100,000 fines on Michigan and Ohio State for their brawls, but Herbstreit advocated for suspensions for those involved in the altercation.
Any conference commissioner who had a team or teams involved in postgame fights owes it to his conference and the sport of CFB to closely study the film and sit anyone who was an aggressor to help escalate the situation, according to Herbstreit.
"Arrange those individuals for their upcoming game, whether it's a bowl game or playoff game. These men require consequences-for their own benefit!"
The flag incidents led to separate brawls involving North Carolina and NC State players as well as Florida and Florida State players.
So far, only the Big Ten has doled out discipline.
Only Arizona and Florida State are not eligible to play in a postseason bowl game because they do not have at least six wins.
