Missouri attorney general candidate Andrew Bailey won the Republican primary, facing Democrat Elad Gross in the general election.

Incumbent Republican Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey won the state's Aug. 6 primary election with a commanding 63% to 37% lead over Republican Trump attorney Will Scharf, according to the state of Missouri elections website.

At Princeton University, Scharf obtained his undergraduate degree, followed by his law degree from Harvard University. He then clerked for two federal appeals court judges and later worked at CRC Advisors, a conservative public relations firm.

Scharf has worked as an assistant U.S. Attorney in St. Louis and as a lawyer for Trump, and also assisted then-Missouri Gov. Eric Greitens during his campaign and time in office.

Bailey, meanwhile, has spent nearly his entire career in Missouri.

The attorney general of Missouri was previously an Army veteran who earned his undergraduate and law degrees at the University of Missouri, worked in the state attorney general's office, and served as an assistant county prosecutor and a state government lawyer before being appointed by Gov. Mike Parson.

Bailey recently filed a lawsuit against the Biden administration, alleging that they were flying illegal immigrants to Missouri.

In June, Bailey filed a lawsuit against the State of New York, alleging that their actions were a direct attack on the democratic process through unconstitutional lawfare against President Trump.

The former president's gag order in New York v. Trump was infringing on the First Amendment rights of voters in Bailey's state.
