Walz is being probed by the House Oversight Committee for his ties to China.
Rep. James Comer investigates the possibility of Chinese Communist Party influence on Governor Tim Walz's decision-making process.
The House Oversight Committee is probing Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz's "longstanding connections" to China and CCP-linked entities, according to Planet Chronicle Digital.
The House Oversight Committee, led by Chairman James Comer, R-Ky., has launched an investigation into Walz, and a letter to FBI Director Christopher Wray was exclusively obtained by Planet Chronicle Digital.
"The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is currently investigating the Chinese Communist Party's political warfare operations against America and the response from federal agencies. Meanwhile, Vice President Kamala Harris has announced her vice presidential running mate, Timothy Walz, who is the current governor of Minnesota."
The committee was briefed by the FBI on April 22 and July 17, which happened before Walz was named Harris' running mate, as stated by Comer.
The Foreign Influence Task Force of the FBI investigates the same kind of activity that has been revealed about Governor Walz, as stated by Comer.
Walz has "engaged and partnered with" Chinese entities and officials, and the FBI may have given him warnings or advice about U.S. political figures being targeted by or recruited for CCP influence operations.
Walz's "longstanding connections to CCP-connected entities and officials" make him vulnerable to the CCP's strategy of "elite capture," which aims to use influential figures in elite political, cultural, and academic circles to sway the United States to the benefit of the communist regime and at the expense of Americans.
Walz's "extensive engagement with CCP officials and entities while serving in public office" raises questions about "possible CCP influence in his decision-making as governor and, should he be elected, as vice president," according to Comer.
Comer stated that recent reporting uncovered troubling connections between Governor Walz and the People's Republic of China.
According to Comer, reports indicate that during the early 1990s, while Walz was a teacher, he organized a trip to China for Alliance High School students, with the costs allegedly covered by the Chinese government.
"Mr. Walz founded a private company called "Educational Travel Adventures, Inc." in 1994, which organized annual student trips to the PRC until 2003. He led the company until 2007, when it was reportedly dissolved four days after he took office in Congress."
Walz has made an estimated 30 trips to China, according to Comer.
Comer emphasized the significance of U.S. officials being aware of CCP's political and psychological warfare tactics that endanger national security, as highlighted in the Committee's investigation.
Walz's time in Congress was highlighted by Comer, who mentioned his service as a fellow at the Macau Polytechnic University, a Chinese institution known for its "long-held devotion to and love for the motherland."
In 2019, Mr. Walz served as the head of the 27th National Convention for the U.S. China Peoples Friendship Association in Minnesota, while also having significant credit card debt, Comer wrote.
The Department of State exposed a Beijing-based organization, which was revealed to be a Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, a year later. The organization was tasked with co-opting subnational governments, including efforts to directly and malignly influence state and local leaders to promote the PRC’s global agenda.
Walz admitted that China does not need an adversarial relationship with him.
Governor Walz's problematic engagement with concerning entities and individuals remains a cause for concern, despite bipartisan efforts to combat CCP unrestricted warfare against America.
Walz met with Consul General Zhao Jian in March 2024 to discuss "China-U.S. relations and sub-national cooperation."
Although Governor Walz has criticized China's human rights violations and has knowledge of them, he still acknowledges the achievements of the Chinese people and recognizes that some government officials advocate for greater rule of law.
The FBI is now being requested by Comer to provide documents and information related to any Chinese entity or individual with whom Walz may have engaged or partnered in the committee's investigation.
Walz's office and the FBI had any communication regarding warnings or advice about subnational government officials interacting with the PRC, CCP, or their proxies?
According to Comer, the CCP has aimed to destroy the United States through coordinated influence and infiltration campaigns that target all aspects of American life, including elected officials.
"Governor Walz, Kamala Harris's vice-presidential running mate, has a longstanding and cozy relationship with China, according to Comer. Walz has visited China dozens of times, served as a fellow at a Chinese institution that maintains a devotion to the CCP, and spoke alongside the President of a Chinese organization the State Department exposed as a CCP effort to influence and co-opt local leaders."
The FBI's Foreign Influence Task Force investigates CCP activity that is similar to China's engagement with Governor Walz, as stated by Comer.
Governor Walz's relationship with China is something the American people need to comprehend fully, according to Comer, who spoke to Planet Chronicle Digital.
The Harris-Walz campaign declined to comment on Planet Chronicle Digital's request.
