Trump to challenge first court loss to E. Jean Carroll in New York City.
Over the years, Carroll's claims have been consistently denied by Trump.
The U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in New York City is where Trump is predicted to be present for the hearing.
Trump was accused by Carroll of raping her at Bergdorf Goodman in Manhattan in 1996. She sought $12 million in damages.
Trump has consistently denied Carroll's accusations, asserting that he has no knowledge of her and is entirely unfamiliar with her identity.
Trump was sued for defamation by Carroll, who accused him of causing harm to her reputation with his denials.
Trump and his legal team maintain that Carroll's accusations are false, with Trump initially accusing Carroll of being motivated by a desire to promote her book.
In 2019, while serving as President, Trump's statements caused Carroll to sustain injuries, as determined by the jury this year.
The jury awarded Carroll $83.3 million in total, including $65 million in punitive damages for Trump's statements that were intended to harm her.
In April, Trump requested a new trial for the defamation suit, but his appeal was denied.
On Friday, Trump's lawyers are expected to argue that the jury's verdict should be overturned because certain evidence was allowed at trial that should have been excluded, and other evidence was excluded that should have been permitted.
It is unlikely that the court will make a decision on the issue prior to the November presidential election.
