Trump speaks at Faith and Freedom Coalition's 2024 conference.
Trump spoke to evangelical Christian voters in an effort to unite the Republican party prior to the Republican National Convention in July.
On Saturday, the former president will give the keynote address at a significant Christian gathering, aiming to win over social conservatives before officially accepting the Republican presidential nomination in July.
Before speaking, Trump released a video from his private plane, "Trump Force One," stating that he was heading quickly to the Washington Hilton in Washington, D.C., for the Faith and Freedom Coalition (F&F) Road to Majority Conference.
Trump stated that the group is excellent, the crowd will be large, and you will soon witness it. He will deliver his ninth speech at the faith-based conference.
This evening, the president will travel to Philadelphia for a rally following his expected one-hour and 15-minute remarks.
F&F, a prominent Christian grassroots organization with over 3 million members nationwide, hosts the annual Road to Majority Conference, which is the largest public policy conference of conservative Christian activists in the U.S. The conference will focus on policy issues that are of utmost importance to voters of faith prior to the 2024 election.
The Faith & Freedom Coalition's founder and chairman, Ralph Reed, stated to the Associated Press that social conservatives desire a federal abortion ban and urged Republican elected officials to be courageous in expressing their pro-life beliefs.
Trump has previously stated that he does not support a federal abortion ban and that individual state governments should have the right to regulate abortion. Despite his stance being at odds with many evangelical Christian voters in the pro-life movement, he is still viewed positively on the right for appointing three Supreme Court justices who overturned Roe v. Wade, ending federal protections for abortion.
According to Reed, Trump's stance does not jeopardize his support among evangelical voters, who afford him more leeway than they typically provide to other politicians.
"Reed stated that he believes the action won't harm him because he has immense credibility on the issue, as he has done more for the pro-life and pro-family cause than any previous president in the movement's history."
Other notable speakers at the conference included Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin, South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem, former HUD Secretary Dr. Ben Carson, former Hawaii Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham, and Tennessee Sen. Bill Hagerty.
Trump's potential running mates, including Youngkin, Noem, Carson, and Gabbard, are reportedly competing on stage for his approval ahead of the Republican National Convention this summer.
