Trump flips 'I'm talking' script from 2020 debate against Kamala Harris during presidential debate showdown.
During a 2020 debate, Mike Pence told Harris that he was speaking.
During a debate exchange, Vice President Kamala Harris' most memorable line was brought up by former President Trump when he said "wait a minute" and asserted "I'm talking now."
Trump stated that she abandoned at least 12 and possibly 14 or 15 different policies, indicating her support for defunding the police.
"Please, let me finish," Trump responded. "Have you heard that before?"
During the 2020 vice presidential debate, Harris interrupted Pence while he was trying to speak, saying "I'm speaking."
At the time, critics believed the quote was an attempt to generate a viral moment.
In the weeks leading up to the debate, the Harris and Trump campaigns debated whether the microphones should be muted for the candidate not speaking. Eventually, it was decided to mute the mics.
Conservatives on social media, including commentator Dana Loesch, noticed the moment and remarked, "Good quip."
"Trump immediately responded to Harris by saying, "She went out in Minnesota and wanted to let criminals who killed people and burned down Minneapolis go free. She raised money to get them out of jail. She did things that nobody would ever think of. Now she wants to do transgender operations on illegal aliens who are in prison.""
Recent polling suggests that Trump is still ahead of Democrats nationally, despite a surge in support for Democrats following Harris' entry into the race.
According to a New York Times/Siena poll released Sunday, 48% of likely voters supported Trump while 47% supported Harris.
