Trump campaign attacks report that Keith Ellison is being considered for AG: 'not a natural fit'
Reports that Ellison is being considered for the AG position have been denied by him.
The Trump campaign criticized claims that Kamala Harris' campaign informed Arab American leaders in Detroit that if she wins the election on November 5th, she would likely appoint left-wing Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison as the nation's top law enforcement officer.
According to Planet Chronicle Digital, Trump campaign national press secretary Karoline Leavitt stated that Keith Ellison would not be a suitable addition to a Kamala Harris administration as both are radical liberals who advocate for ending cash bail and releasing violent criminals into American communities. However, Leavitt added that it is unlikely to occur since President Trump is predicted to win on November 5.
Over the weekend, reports emerged that the Harris campaign allegedly informed Detroit community leaders of Ellison's potential nomination as attorney general. However, Ellison has denied the claim.
The former acting director of National Intelligence under the Trump administration, Richard Grenell, posted on X on Saturday that Arab American leaders in Detroit have been informed by the Kamala campaign that Keith Ellison is being considered as a potential Attorney General if she wins the election.
When requested for comment, the Harris campaign instructed Fox Digital to refer to a post on Ellison's X account refuting the report.
Ellison responded to Grenell's social media post by stating that it was a lie intended to provoke Muslim-haters.
Currently, Ellison is the attorney general of Minnesota and a left-wing Democrat. He previously served as a U.S. congressman representing Minnesota from 2007 to 2019. Ellison made history as the first Muslim to be elected to Congress in the United States.
Ellison has been criticized by conservatives for various reasons, including comparing Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas to a slave character in Quentin Tarantino's film "Django Unchained," blaming car manufacturers for rising auto theft, handling crime in the state during and after the 2020 George Floyd riots, and accusing the Republican Party of being above the law during his DNC speech last month.
During the DNC, Ellison stated that no one is above or beneath the law, except for the Republican Party, where many individuals believe they are exempt. This is evident by the fact that several of their own lawyers are facing serious charges. Even their lawyers require legal representation.
This weekend, social media commentators and conservatives voiced their opinions about the report that the Harris campaign is considering Ellison as a top candidate for U.S. AG.
Lisa Monaco, Vanita Gupta, and Sally Yates are among the potential candidates for Attorney General under President Harris, according to media speculation. Julie Kelly, a conservative political commentator and journalist, suggested that Matthew Graves, the U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia and chief prosecutor of Trump supporters who breached the U.S. Capitol in 2021, could also be considered for the position if Harris were to win.
Ellison's inclusion on Harris' AG short list is met with criticism from Muslim and Jewish voters due to her stance on the ongoing war in Israel, which has persisted since October 7th.
In Michigan, Muslim American voters recently changed their mission to oppose the Harris ticket, after initially launching the "Abandon Biden" campaign earlier this year in Dearborn, where they criticized Biden for his unwavering support of Israel.
The Abandon Harris campaign stated in a release that this action is a direct response to Kamala Harris' support for the ongoing genocide in Gaza.
In New York, a poll last month showed Trump leading Harris among Jewish voters, despite his efforts to win over the Jewish community.
On Sunday, Planet Chronicle Digital reached out to Ellison's office for further comment but did not receive a response.
