Trump appoints RFK Jr., Tulsi Gabbard to his transition team, reaching out to supporters from different political backgrounds.
This month, Trump received endorsements from two former Democrats, RFK Jr. and Gabbard.
Trump has expanded his support base by adding former Democrats Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Tulsi Gabbard to his transition team.
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Tulsi Gabbard have joined the Trump/Vance Transition team, as President Trump's broad coalition of supporters and endorsers continues to expand across partisan lines, according to Trump campaign senior advisor Brian Hughes.
Hughes added, "We eagerly anticipate having their strong voices on our team as we strive to revive America's greatness."
RFK Jr., initially a Democrat, later ran as an Independent for president in 2024, but suspended his campaign and endorsed former President Trump, a significant shift for a Kennedy family member.
Tulsi Gabbard, a former congresswoman, changed political parties and now identifies as an Independent.
This week, Trump received the endorsement of Gabbard, a former Democratic representative for Hawaii's 2nd congressional district and a veteran.
""I invite you to join me in saving our country and electing President Donald J. Trump to the White House, regardless of your political affiliation," Gabbard stated."
Tulsi Gabbard, who ran against Kamala Harris in the 2019 Democratic presidential primary, has been enlisted by Trump to assist with debate preparation before their upcoming clash on September 10th at the National Constitutional Center in Philadelphia.
RFK Jr. gave his own definition of "MAGA" on social media this week.
Kennedy wrote that the phrase "Make America Great Again" evokes a nation filled with energy, optimism, and confidence. This was an America that was starting to confront its darker aspects, recognize the injustices of its past and present, while still celebrating its achievements.
"The United States was a prosperous nation with a thriving middle class, an idealistic belief in freedom, justice, and democracy, and a reputation for innovation, productivity, and technological advancement. Despite this, the country's health was not consistently prioritized. After speaking with Trump supporters, his inner circle, and the man himself, it is clear that they desire to restore America to its former glory."
