Trump and Harris urge their supporters to disregard polls, yet with distinct motivations.

In Savannah, Ga., both Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump are advising their supporters to disregard the latest polls, albeit for divergent motives.

With the 2024 presidential race in its final stretch, Harris is urging caution as fundraising and polling numbers have increased since she became the Democrats' national ticket leader six weeks ago. Trump, on the other hand, has experienced a decline in momentum, but has a history of performing better than expected in polls, such as during his 2016 campaign.

Harris stated to supporters at a packed arena in a historic coastal city in Georgia that this presidential election will be a tight race until the very end, as Georgia is one of the seven crucial battleground states that will likely determine the outcome.

On Thursday, Harris discussed the recent polls that showed a margin-of-error race in key swing states and a slight edge over Trump in national polls, including new surveys from Planet Chronicle.

The vice president addressed the crowd at Savannah's Enmarket Arena, stating that they should not focus too much on polls because they are running as the underdog.

""We have some challenging tasks ahead of us, but we enjoy hard work. Hard work leads to success, and with your support, we will triumph in November," Harris declared to applause."

Trump, aiming to regain his former position in the White House, has consistently disregarded the polling surge for Harris and emphasized his own standing.

""She's not doing well, but I am," Trump said in an interview with Martha MacCallum on Planet Chronicle last week. "I'm doing great with Hispanic voters, Black men, and women. We're doing well in the polls," he added."

Polls indicated a tight race between Trump and Biden in the months leading up to the 2022 election, with the two candidates facing off in a rematch of their 2020 contest. Biden's poor performance in a late-June debate in Atlanta gave Trump a slight advantage.

Since Biden dropped out of the presidential race, Harris has received increased media attention, which has helped improve the chances of the Democratic Party ticket.

Harris' rally in Savannah was the culmination of a two-day tour through southeastern Georgia with her running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz. She arrived at the arena two hours after her first network interview since being named the Democrats' standard-bearer.

In 2020, Biden became the first Democrat in nearly three decades to win Georgia in presidential politics, despite it traditionally being a reliably red state.

In the runoff elections held two months later, Democrats managed to flip both of the state's GOP-held Senate seats.

As the summer approached, there were growing demands from within Biden's own party to abandon his 2024 presidential campaign, while Trump was gaining an advantage in Georgia.

Despite Harris' trip this week, Democrats believe the state is once again in play.

"Georgia voters have consistently delivered for the past two election cycles, and now we are asking you to do it again. Let's do it again."

Georgia's popular two-term Republican governor agrees that his state is very competitive.

"Gov. Brian Kemp stated during a Planet Chronicle Digital interview on Tuesday that Georgia is a battleground state and the road to the White House will run through it. He added that there is no path for former President Trump or any Republican to get to 270 electoral votes without Georgia."

On Thursday, Kemp, who headlined a fundraiser in Atlanta for Trump, stated that Georgia should be won if all the necessary mechanics are in place. He is working hard to help provide those mechanisms and increase the Republican vote in November.

The unofficial final sprint in the presidential election commences on Labor Day.

In a week, on September 10th, the first and potentially only presidential debate between Harris and Trump will occur in Philadelphia.

In the upcoming weeks, some voters will begin casting ballots even though Election Day is still more than two months away.

In North Carolina, mail-in voting starts on September 6th, while early voting commences on September 16th in Pennsylvania and September 26th in Michigan, both of which are pivotal electoral battlegrounds.
