The 'unusual' campaign: The remarkable contrast in media coverage of Harris and Vance
No remark is too small or old to be resurrected for JD Vance.
Kamala Harris' digital history, previously known as a paper trail, reveals her as an extremely liberal individual.
Throughout her career, from prosecutor to state attorney general to senator, she primarily catered to her liberal constituents in the blue state of California.
As the Democratic nominee, Harris will eventually need to address or justify certain past positions that may not be favorable in a tight national election, where polls show her in a virtual tie with Trump in Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin, and leading by six points in Minnesota.
The former president's campaign, where he insulted Harris with derogatory terms and mocked her name, is resurfacing some of her most notable liberal accomplishments. However, influential blogger Andrew Sullivan argues that despite her potential victory, Harris's extreme-left stance and lack of appeal to the center make her one of the weakest Democratic candidates.
If the Harris Honeymoon wears off, the vice president will face the challenge of explaining to voters why she no longer holds her positions. Perhaps it's because she "evolved," or perhaps it's because she was largely representing San Francisco at the time. Maybe her time as VP has changed her outlook. However, she cannot simply let it slide.
Even the sympathetic press will get over its amnesia eventually.
In the summer of 2020, following George Floyd's murder, Harris supported a bail fund to release the offenders during the BLM protests.
In one interview, she stated: "They will not relent, and we should not either."
In a different interview, Harris stated that the belief that increasing the number of police officers would enhance safety is outdated and incorrect.
During her 2020 campaign, she stated that private prisons profit from the incarceration and suffering of individuals. As president, one of her initial actions will be to phase out detention centers and private prisons.
While campaigning, Harris supported Medicare for All, which is a preference of Bernie Sanders, but recognized that it would eliminate private health insurance. In contrast, Biden did not want to go as far left as that.
Through an aide's comments, Harris has backed off his promise to ban fracking.
The media swiftly shifted their support from Biden (of course he can serve another term!) to Harris (a youthful, innovative perspective!), forming a protective team.
The Trump campaign and Republicans have repeatedly tagged Kamala Harris with the "border czar" title, despite her never having held the position.
In 2021, Axios reported that Harris, who was appointed by Biden as border czar, faced criticism for her handling of the U.S.-Mexico border crisis.
(Axios updated its story.)
Why deny that Harris had an unofficial title as the "immigration czar"?
Those who label the vice president as a DEI selection argue that Biden had promised to choose a Black woman.
One guest on FOX Business compared Harris to the Hawk-Tuah girl in a sexual act. (It involves a sexual act. Google it if you need to.)
Trump accused Harris of orchestrating a "coup" and claimed that Jews who voted for Democrats were unpatriotic.
The former president may have lowered expectations for Harris by calling her "dumb as a rock," despite her almost flawless execution of her first week.
It seems that Trump is still struggling to determine how to effectively campaign against the 59-year-old Harris. (According to The Washington Post, Donna Brazile and other allies spent weeks strategizing a potential Kamala candidacy in the event Biden decided to withdraw from the race.)
The media's treatment of JD Vance is in contrast to their treatment of other individuals, where no older remark is deemed too small to be resurrected.
The Harris team is attempting to portray both Trump and Vance as eccentric, using a statement that describes their "extreme and unusual views." Meanwhile, the Trump campaign is depicting Harris as peculiar. The whole situation is quite bizarre.
Vance's most significant controversy is his 2021 Fox interview where he claimed that a "childless cat lady," including Harris, does not have a "direct stake" in society and are unhappy in their own lives. He has since expanded this statement to include childless media personalities.
Jennifer Aniston and he got into a spat due to his remarks, which resulted in a scolding from the Wall Street Journal editorial page.
The Ohio senator initially informed Megyn Kelly that he was being sarcastic and is fond of cats.
On Sunday, Trey Gowdy, a former GOP congressman and Fox host, informed Vance that George Washington and James Madison were among those who did not have biological children.
Vance stated, "The left has misrepresented my words and aggressively lied about them. Although what I said is true, it is a topic I will continue to discuss, as it relates to my comments three years ago. The left's stance on being anti-child and anti-family has become increasingly explicit."
They've discouraged young families from having children due to climate change concerns, implying that parents are selfish, but I believe being a parent is the most selfless act and can change one's perspective.
"This was never a criticism of everyone without children, Trey."
According to Doug's ex-wife, Harris has been actively involved in raising her husband's children.
The campaign is undoubtedly the most unusual in American history and may affect how people view oddness. However, it appears that there is a double standard, as the media generally agrees that Trump poses a threat to democracy.
If Trump decides not to debate Harris, it's crucial to keep in mind one point.
Trump negotiated terms with Biden and now has the right to renegotiate with Harris. Planet Chronicle has proposed a debate in September after Trump rejected ABC as biased. The former president has the right to work out a new deal, but it is uncertain if any debates will occur.
How could Biden's team have sent him out for an early debate with Trump, knowing what we know now?
