The Biden administration's utilization of humanitarian parole to bring in migrants through "legal routes" as a plan to resolve the crisis at the southern border is being closely examined during an ongoing discussion about Haitian migration, while officials disclose the number of individuals who have been granted entry under the programs.

To manage the escalating border crisis, the Biden administration introduced two legal entry options for migrants. The first option enables migrants to schedule appointments at the ports of entry through the CBP One app, allowing a maximum of 1,450 migrants to enter daily.

The program allows migrants with sponsors to apply for authorization to enter the US without physically crossing the border. Up to 30,000 migrants are allowed in each month under this program.

Nearly 530,000 nationals from those four countries have been granted parole through the end of August 2024, according to statistics released by the administration on Monday.

The DHS resumed processing of authorizations for the program after implementing new safeguards following a brief suspension in July due to fraud from sponsors supporting migrants.

The discovery of fraud in the program has prompted Republicans to demand that the Biden administration shut it down. They argue that the administration's use of parole is illegal, as it violates the law that restricts the use of parole to specific circumstances, such as urgent humanitarian reasons or significant public benefit.

The use of parole by DHS has resulted in a significant decrease in encounters, as the agency has defended its implementation.

CBP thoroughly screens and vets all CHNV beneficiaries before they arrive in the United States and must meet other eligibility criteria to travel safely and legally once they purchase their own commercial airline tickets, Customs and Border Protection stated on Monday.

The number of encounters of CHNV nationals between POEs has decreased by 99% due to the implementation of safe, orderly, and lawful processes by DHS.

In August, there were 44,700 appointments made for individuals to be paroled into ports of entry using the CBP One app.

Since their inception less than two years ago, over 1.3 million individuals have been released from prison through the two programs.

ICE sources have informed Planet Chronicle that they lack the workforce and resources to locate and remove a significant number of individuals who have overstayed their two-year visas.

The administration's approach of increasing legal entry routes and imposing consequences for illegal entry has resulted in a significant decrease in border encounters. In August, there were 107,503 encounters, compared to 232,963 in the same month last year, representing a 54% drop. This decline began in June when President Biden signed an executive order limiting arrivals across the border when encounters reach a specific level. Officials have urged Congress to provide additional funding and broader reforms to address what they describe as a "broken system."

On Monday, acting CBP Commissioner Troy Miller stated that the Securing the Border interim final rule is still being enforced, and that there are strong consequences for illegal entry. Additionally, encounters between ports of entry have been at their lowest level in years.

The scrutiny of parole has intensified due to the revelation of fraud in the CHNV program and the ongoing debate about the influx of Haitian migrants in towns like Springfield, Ohio, where approximately 12,000 to 15,000 migrants have recently settled in a town of just over 60,000 residents.

On Wednesday, House Republicans released a report criticizing the use of parole by the administration, claiming that it has been used to grant parole to millions of illegal aliens and create programs for different nationalities, which are not in line with the law.

In March, DHS successfully defended its use of parole in a case brought forth by a coalition of Republican-led states, resulting in a victory for the agency.

"DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas stated that the safe and orderly processes have resulted in a significant reduction in the number of individuals encountered at the southern border. These processes are a key element of our efforts to address the unprecedented level of migration throughout our hemisphere and other countries around the world see it as a model to tackle the challenge of increased irregular migration that they too are experiencing."

The Biden administration has been criticized for its use of parole and the CBP One app, as a Haitian migrant accused of molesting a boy in Massachusetts and a video of buses transporting migrants with CBP One appointments to the U.S. border have raised concerns about the effectiveness of the program. Meanwhile, former President Trump has renewed his pledge to end the CBP One app and the various uses of parole.

Trump announced on Sunday via social media that he would promptly put an end to the migrant infiltration of America as President.

He announced that all migrant flights will be halted, all illegal entries will be ended, the Kamala phone app for smuggling illegals (CBP One App) will be terminated, deportation immunity will be revoked, refugee resettlement will be suspended, and Kamala's illegal migrants will be returned to their home countries (also known as remigration).
