The new policy page of Harris camp's border security is being criticized for its lack of specifics.
The Harris campaign's website now features a new policy platform, which was released 50 days after Biden withdrew from the race.
The "Issues" page has been added to Vice President Kamala Harris' campaign website, featuring a 23-point policy platform after facing criticism for its absence.
The Harris campaign has been under pressure to create a policy platform on its website, like previous presidents have done. However, when the platform was released this week, it faced criticism for lacking specifics.
One conservative immigration hawk criticized the policy platform for not addressing Harris' stance on border wall funding and whether she considers illegal border crossings a civil or criminal issue.
"Mark Krikorian, the executive director of the Center for Immigration Studies, stated to Planet Chronicle Digital that the Harris campaign's "Issues" page lacks substance on immigration, particularly regarding border barriers and decriminalization of border-jumping. The statement merely repeats the empty rhetoric about the "bipartisan" Senate border bill, which was created by the Biden-Harris DHS to legalize their unlawful plans to import more illegal aliens."
Although the new online policy platform did not specify where Harris stands on funding additional border wall construction, Republicans have used her public support for the failed bipartisan border bill as proof that she now backs a border wall, despite once calling it a "medieval vanity project."
The border bill did not allocate new funds for border wall construction, but instead extended the deadline to spend funds previously appropriated during Trump's presidency. The bill includes restrictions to ensure the money is used for border barriers.
"Lora Ries, director of the Heritage Foundation's Border Security and Immigration Center, advised Americans to trust Harris' past statements and current policies as Vice President. She emphasized that Harris has consistently opposed a border wall, and on the first day of the Biden-Harris Administration, they halted the construction of the border wall system."
During her 2019 presidential campaign, Kamala Harris stated in a televised debate that she would not pursue illegal border crossings. In a segment on "The View," she repeated her stance in a conversation with Meghan McCain.
"Harris stated that it should not be a criminal enforcement issue, but rather a civil enforcement matter."
Ries emphasized in her statement to Planet Chronicle Digital that Harris consistently stated during her CNN interview that her values remain unchanged.
The Harris campaign did not respond to Planet Chronicle Digital's request for comment on criticism from Krikorian and others regarding the lack of specifics in its new online policy platform.
Trump campaign spokesperson Karoline Leavitt characterized the new policy platform as a "hastily compiled list of wishful policies."
"Why did Kamala vote to cause inflation and support the war on our energy industry, and why is she allowing an invasion of illegal immigrants through our southern border?"
The Harris campaign's "Issues" page on its website contained metadata urging voters to reelect President Joe Biden, which was quickly removed after social media users pointed it out. The outlet reported that the language was copied and pasted from Biden's documents.
