The faceoff between Trump and Harris in Project 2025 elicits a strong response from the focus group.
In their first presidential debate of the 2024 cycle, former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris faced off.
The live reaction of a focus group to the presidential debate regarding the controversial conservative plan, Project 2025, seemed to indicate strong opinions.
The Heritage Foundation launched Project 2025 as part of their Presidential Transition Project for the 2024 cycle. Despite this, Democrats have criticized the project, labeling it as radical and linking it to former President Donald Trump.
On Tuesday, Vice President Kamala Harris's support among Democrats and independents increased during the presidential debate as she criticized Project 2025.
"Tonight, you'll witness the same old tired playbook with a lot of lies, complaints, and name-calling. However, the former president has a detailed and dangerous plan called Project 2025 that he intends to implement if he gets elected again. I strongly believe that the American people want a president who understands the importance of bringing us together."
Trump, however, denied any involvement with the group.
During Tuesday's debate, Trump stated that he has no involvement in Project 2025, as she knows better than anyone. He added that he hasn't read it and has no intention of doing so purposefully. He also stated that he won't be reading it.
While discussing the divisive organization, he garnered backing from Republicans but experienced a significant decline in support from both independents and Democrats.
"A group of individuals gathered and brainstormed some ideas, likely both good and bad. However, it ultimately has no impact, he stated. "I'm an open book, and everyone knows what I'll do," he added."
When Trump promised to cut taxes and boost the economy, all three voting blocs saw a significant increase in support for him.
While Trump spoke about the pandemic, Democrats and Republicans were consistently more supportive of him, but independents expressed dissatisfaction.
