Six hostages' bodies recovered, Israel's largest labor union plans massive strike.
Arnon Bar-David, head of the Histadrut Labor Federation, stated that instead of reaching a deal, they are receiving body bags.
A massive strike is being planned by Israel's largest labor union for Monday to demand a cease-fire agreement between the country and Hamas following the discovery of six Israeli hostages dead in a Hamas tunnel.
According to Reuters, Arnon Bar-David, the Histadrut Labor Federation chief, stated on Sunday that they would be receiving body bags instead of a deal.
"Anything else is less important than reaching a deal," he stated.
The Histadrut Labor Federation, Israel's largest labor union, represents hundreds of thousands of workers. Reuters reported that Bar-David's call for a one-day strike was supported by manufacturers and tech entrepreneurs in the country.
Israel's Manufacturers' Association leader Ron Tomer stated that the war cannot end, society cannot be rehabilitated, and the Israeli economy cannot begin to recover without the release of hostages, as he supported Bar-David's call for a strike.
He urged the government to do everything possible to secure the release of hostages immediately, even under the constraints of a temporary truce, and encouraged all Israeli businesses to take action to achieve this goal.
On Monday, Israeli municipalities including Tel Aviv, Kfar Saba, and Givatayim decided to participate in a strike, according to the New York Post.
On Saturday, six hostages were killed by Hamas terrorists during an Israeli Defense Forces rescue operation in the tunnels beneath Gaza's Rafah. Among the bodies recovered was that of Israeli-American Hersh Goldberg-Polin, who had been held captive by Hamas since the start of the conflict between Hamas and Israel on October 7th.
Those who have been confirmed dead are: Goldberg-Polin, 23, Eden Yerushalmi, 24, Ori Danino, 25, Alex Lobanov, 32, Carmel Gat, 40, and Almog Sarusi, 27.
Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari, an IDF spokesperson, stated that based on our initial evaluation, they were brutally murdered by Hamas terrorists right before we arrived on the scene.
Since Oct. 7, when Hamas initiated attacks on Israel, a war has been ongoing in the Middle East. At the start of the conflict, an estimated 257 Israeli hostages were trapped in Gaza. Currently, 101 hostages remain in Gaza, with 66 of them believed to be alive, including four American citizens.
Bar-David criticized Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, stating that a cease-fire deal between Israel and Hamas had fallen through due to "political considerations."
Netanyahu expressed shock after the recovery of the hostages' bodies.
Netanyahu stated that the person who kills abductees does not seek a deal. We are facing a challenging day. The entire nation's heart is torn.
"The murder of six of our abductees left me, as well as all citizens of Israel, in shock."
On Sunday, protesters thronged the streets of Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, and near Netanyahu's residence, calling for an immediate cease-fire, according to Reuters.
The Ben Gurion Airport will shut down at 6 a.m. due to the strike, which will cause disruptions.
