Radical Dems and socialists are thrilled by Harris' VP pick Tim Walz.
The 'Squad' expressed approval of Harris' choice for vice president.
The appointment of Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz as Vice President Kamala Harris' running mate has been praised by radicals and socialists across the U.S., further energizing Republicans who argue that the two represent a far-left ticket.
On Tuesday, it was revealed that Walz would be the Democratic ticket's pick for 2024, surprising many who believed Harris would opt for Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro, who has been characterized as "more moderate" by Democrats.
The selection of Walz, who has supported left-wing views on immigration, was met with approval by some left-wingers who had previously opposed Shapiro.
The selection of Walz as a running mate by Harris has demonstrated that DSA and its left-wing allies are a force to be reckoned with. Through collective action, DSA and the broader US left have made it clear that change is necessary. DSA members have organized in their workplaces and unions to realign the labor movement in support of Palestinian liberation, as stated by DSA on Tuesday.
Bernie Sanders, a democratic socialist icon, was pleased when Harris chose Walz as her running mate, just as he had urged her to do so.
""As VP, Walz will deliver for the working families of the US, just as he did as governor in MN," Sanders said on X."
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., characterized the choice as a "superb decision."
"They will govern effectively, inclusively, and boldly for the American people, and they won't back down under tight odds, from healthcare to school lunch," she said on X. "Let's do this."
Fellow "Squad" member Ilhan Omar was similarly gushing about Walz.
"Our North Star state Governor has enacted universal school meals, paid family and sick leave, marijuana legalization, and reproductive rights protections into law," she stated. "Minnesota nice for the ticket."
Rep. Jamaal Bowman, D-N.Y., exclaimed, "Let's go, Walz!"
Republicans have used the rare bad endorsement of the Harris-Walz ticket to portray them as far left.
Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., praised Governor Tim Walz as a dream for the radical Left after Harris Feels the Bern picked him.
"Elise Stefanik, R-N.Y., stated that the Democrat Party is making history with the anointment of Harris-Walz to the ballot in November, representing the most radical Far Left wing ticket in history. Walz, a failed Member of Congress and Governor, supported Defund the Police and BLM, which torched cities to the ground. Meanwhile, Kamala fundraised to bail out violent criminals from prison."
Rep. Tom Tiffany, R-Wis., stated, "As Minnesota burned, Tim Walz stood idly by and did nothing. Meanwhile, Kamala Harris aided violent rioters in their release from jail. This is the epitome of the SOCIALIST ideal."
Walz has rejected socialist comparisons, portraying them negatively but linking them to "friendliness."
"The Minnesota Democrat urged participants on a "White Dudes for Harris" call last week not to be afraid of their progressive values, stating that what one person considers socialism may simply be another person's expression of neighborliness."
