A recent poll shows that the gap between former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris in terms of their handling of crime and economic policy is narrowing.

A recent Reuters/Ipsos poll shows Trump has a 3% lead over Harris on employment and economic issues, with 43% support for Trump and 40% for Harris.

In July, Trump had an 11-point lead over Harris on economic issues, according to the same poll.

The gap is closing between the candidates on other key issues as well.

Last month, Trump led Harris by 5 percentage points on the issue of tackling crime and corruption, but now they are tied at 40%.

The margin of error for the August poll is 4%, making it difficult to determine if Trump's economic policy advantage is a significant lead.

Despite the efforts of political operatives and pollsters to create a dependable voter model for the November presidential election, concerns about accuracy persist in the wake of 2016 and 2020.

Despite the efforts of several top polling firms to diagnose the issue after two past elections, democratic pollsters still fear another polling error.

"Each year, we've encountered various unexpected events. This industry is challenging," John Anzalone, the lead pollster for Biden's 2020 campaign, stated to Politico. "Something will occur in 2024, and we, at present, are unaware of what that will be."

Despite losing the 2020 election, Trump outperformed his polling numbers in both elections, which Democrats are taking note of as they prepare for the 2024 election.

Between Aug. 23 and Aug. 25, a Reuters/Ipsos poll was conducted on 1,028 adults, with 902 of them being registered voters.

The poll has a margin of error of +/- 4%.
