Nearly Tripling Trump's Fundraising: Harris's 2024 Cash Dash
Since replacing Biden as the Democrats' 2024 ticket leader, Harris has experienced a rise in fundraising.
In August, Vice President Kamala Harris's campaign raised a record-breaking $361 million, surpassing the previous high of the 2024 cycle.
The Democratic Party's presidential nominee raised nearly three times as much money as Donald Trump did in his last month's fundraising announcement.
In the past seven weeks, since taking over as the Democratic Party's 2024 presidential candidate, Harris has experienced a significant increase in fundraising.
Since July 21, when Biden endorsed her, Harris has raised over $615 million for her campaign.
The Harris campaign boasted that August's fundraising was the best in presidential history.
The vice president's team boasted a significant financial advantage over the Trump campaign, with $404 million in cash-on-hand as of the end of last month, compared to the $295 million the Trump campaign reported.
In August, Harris' fundraising increased from the $310 million the Democratic ticket raised in July, while Trump's fundraising decreased slightly from the $138.7 million it raised in July.
"Vice President Harris' candidacy has sparked a record-breaking, diverse coalition with the same passion, drive, and determination needed to win tight elections, according to Julie Chavez Rodriguez, her campaign manager," she stated. "With the election just days away, we're ensuring every dollar is spent effectively to sway undecided voters."
The former president's campaign team announced on Wednesday that they had the necessary funds to win the election due to their cash-on-hand.
Despite initially having a fundraising advantage over Trump and the RNC earlier this year, Biden and the DNC fell behind by $331 million to $264 million during the April-June second quarter of 2024 fundraising.
After his poor showing in the June debate with Trump, Biden experienced a brief spike in fundraising, with donors showing their support for the 81-year-old president by contributing large sums of money.
Biden's shaky debate delivery raised concerns about his physical and mental abilities to serve another term, prompting calls from his own party for him to end his bid. Despite a brief surge in fundraising, it began to slow down significantly by early July.
In addition to polling, fundraising is a crucial indicator of a candidate's popularity and campaign strength. The funds raised can be utilized for various purposes, such as hiring staff, increasing grassroots outreach and get-out-the-vote efforts, producing and running advertisements on TV, radio, digital, and mailers, and for candidate travel.
