According to newly released state assessment data, three core learning categories are not being met by Minnesota students.
Over half of Minnesota students are not meeting standards in math, reading, and science, according to new data released by the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) on Thursday. These assessments, administered by the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessments (MCAs) and the alternate assessment, the Minnesota Test of Academic Skills (MTAS), measure student progress across the state.
In Minnesota, 60.4% of students are not meeting the state standards in the subject of science, while only 39.5% are performing adequately.
In math, 54.5% of students do not meet or only partially meet the subject requirements.
In math assessments, 45.5% of students pass the test.
While approximately 50.2% of students are not meeting or only partially meeting standards for reading, about 49.8% are meeting standards.
The new data revealed that 53.5% of Minnesota 3rd Graders are not reading at grade level, according to @GovTimWalz's education department. House Republicans posted this information on X.
