More House Democrats urge Biden to withdraw from presidential race.
A group of five more House Democrats have called for Biden to step down and pass the leadership torch to a new generation.
On Friday, five more House Democrats added their voices to the growing chorus of congressional lawmakers urging President Biden to abandon his plans to run for president in 2024.
A group of Democratic congressmen, including Reps. Jared Huffman, Marc Veasey, Chuy Garcia, and Marc Pocan, urged Biden to pass on the leadership torch to a new generation of Democrats.
Rep. Sean Casten of Illinois, a fifth House Democrat, wrote an op-ed for the Chicago Tribune urging Biden to drop out of the presidential race.
"Joe Biden should pass on the leadership," Casten stated.
"The election is being litigated over which candidate is more likely to be held accountable for public gaffes and 'senior moments.' As a result, I believe that Biden is not only going to lose but is also uniquely incapable of shifting that conversation."
This is a developing story and will be updated.
