On Thursday, the White House announced that President Biden will not grant a pardon to his son, Hunter Biden, after his attorneys revealed that he plans to alter his plea in the federal tax case against him.

"White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre stated on Thursday that President Biden has not changed his decision on whether to pardon his son, Hunter, despite the plea. She emphasized that it remains a "no" to the questions she has received about the possibility of a pardon."

On the same day as scheduled jury selection for an anticipated trial, Hunter Biden's attorney Abbe Lowell disclosed the plea agreement in court on Thursday.

The president's son will avoid a public trial for failing to pay taxes if he pleads guilty, as prosecutors allege he spent money on drugs, escorts, hotel stays, clothing, and other personal items.

It was a surprise to prosecutors when the reversal occurred, following a private meeting between Hunter Biden's attorneys and Judge Mark Scarsi on Thursday, as reported by NBC News.

The details of Hunter Biden's proposed plea were not made public, and it is unclear whether Scarsi will accept it.

Hunter Biden was convicted of three felony gun charges in June for lying on a mandatory gun purchase form. Despite this, President Biden stated that he did not plan to pardon his son. Hunter Biden will be sentenced for the gun charges on Nov. 12.

In December, the president's son was indicted on nine counts, including three felonies, for allegedly evading paying over $1.4 million in taxes while simultaneously spending money on personal items such as drugs, escorts, and luxury hotels, among others.

Hunter Biden allegedly falsely claimed that various personal expenses, such as prostitutes, strip club visits, porn website subscriptions, and a sex club membership, were deductible business expenses in order to evade taxes and reduce his substantial tax liabilities, according to prosecutors.
