Kamala Harris' running mate selection process no longer includes North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper, according to a report.
Vice President's veepstakes had Cooper as a top contender.
According to The New York Times, North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper is no longer being considered as Vice President Kamala Harris's running mate this election season.
On Monday evening, The Times reported that Harris' team was informed about Cooper's decision to withdraw, but the cause of his withdrawal remains unclear.
In recent days, Harris has been considering Cooper as a top contender for her running mate.
Earlier on Monday, Mitch Kokai, senior political analyst at the John Locke Foundation, told Planet Chronicle Digital that North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper was considered a "good match" for Kamala Harris.
Kokai explained that Democrats are likely to view Roy Cooper as a suitable match for Kamala Harris due to several reasons. Firstly, Cooper can help secure North Carolina's 16 electoral votes, which other candidates cannot achieve.
"Since 2000, he has won six statewide elections in a state that has trended right, which is an impressive accomplishment for a Democrat."
