A Republican candidate in a closely watched House race is defending Trump's VP candidate JD Vance after Rep. Greg Landsman accused him of not representing the people of southwest Ohio.

Orlando Sonza, in response to Landsman's X thread criticizing Vance's representation of southwest Ohio, stated, "What I have to say to my opponent is you need to look in the mirror."

Landsman described Vance as "odd" and stated, "Despite living near each other in Butler County and growing up in the same area, our values and those of the individuals I represent are vastly different from his."

Landsman criticized Vance's views and beliefs, stating that they do not represent Southwest Ohio.

Sonza stated, "Your policies demonstrate that you are out of sync with the people of southwest Ohio."

Landsman was hit by Sonza on various past positions, such as immigration and policing, which he claims do not align with the beliefs of the majority of voters in Ohio's 1st Congressional District.

Sonza stated that when you support an open southern border and have changed your stance on this issue, and your most recent position is that you will not criticize the Biden administration's failed policies that have led to an open southern border, which in turn has caused the problems we are facing in southwest Ohio.

"You must take responsibility for your stance on complete government overspending, which resulted in zero cuts. Your initial response during the debt-ceiling dispute last year was to increase the debt ceiling without any spending reductions. You must account for this position."

In November, my opponent will have to answer for being out of step with Ohio voters.

Sonza criticized Landsman as a candidate who opposes parents' right to make the best educational decisions for their children and voted against the parental bill of rights.

"When you are for defunding the police while you've been on Cincinnati City Council, you got to answer for that when you called for Cincinnati to be a sanctuary city in 2017. Greg Landsman, you've got to answer for that. So who's the one that's out of step with Ohio voters? It's my opponent. So he's got to have to look in the mirror and answer for that."

Despite criticisms from Democrats and concerns from some conservatives, Vance was the best fit for the job as vice president, according to Sonza.

Sonza, a West Point graduate and former officer in the U.S. Army, stated that JD Vance is not just a friend, but a very strong candidate for vice president. It's no surprise to him that President Trump chose Vance out of many potential VP candidates to be on the ticket with him.

"JD Vance is not just a father, veteran, entrepreneur, and someone who has experienced the American dream, but he has also made a significant impact in Ohio through his hard work and dedication."

In his "brief time" in the Senate, Vance has "fulfilled for the American people." The public is seeking "precisely that kind of leadership."

"Sonza stated that he completely supports JD Vance's candidacy for the ticket. He believes that not only is it beneficial for the country, but it is also advantageous for Ohio because Vance has a proven track record of delivering results, as evidenced by his successful tenure as a U.S. senator. Sonza is confident that Vance will continue to deliver as Ohio's next vice president."

Although the Cook Political Report classifies the 1st District race as "likely Democrat," Republicans have invested heavily in the contest. In 2022, Landsman emerged victorious by a slim margin of more than five points.

Cincinnati and Warren County make up Ohio's 1st District.

While Sonza has prioritized the economy and overall quality of life in his campaign, Landsman has focused on the issue of abortion.

"According to Sonza, Planet Chronicle Digital, the future is not bright unless we change course, and this November is the opportunity to do so. The focus should be on improving the economy, ensuring safety in the community, and enhancing the education system. These factors will not only benefit the current generation but also the one that will follow."

A spokesperson for the Landsman campaign stated that Greg is a bipartisan leader with a track record of achieving results for the residents of southwest Ohio.

"Greg has been a key player in holding Biden accountable on the border, helping to secure a bipartisan border fix, and now pushing for a vote on the floor. He was also part of the bipartisan group that found a solution to prevent a catastrophic default. During his time on Cincinnati City Council, Greg led the bipartisan budget process that resulted in a $20 million increase in police spending, and he was instrumental in adding a second recruit class before being elected to Congress."

While Greg has been working to benefit his constituents, Sonza, who does not reside in the district, only spews far-right talking points from Washington.
