Jane Fonda claims at a Harris event for overseas voters that 'Orange Man' Trump will jail protesters.
Fonda stated that the world cannot afford another four years of ignoring the climate crisis.
Jane Fonda, an actress and environmental activist, recently spoke to an international audience, cautioning Democrats abroad that if former President Donald Trump is re-elected, he will imprison anyone who opposes his policies.
If you are young abroad, you will want to vote to ensure a livable future and have a voice in a democracy. With a Harris ticket, you can lobby, protest, demonstrate, and do other things to make your voice heard.
Fonda stated that the Orange Man will not allow that to occur. He imprisons individuals who disagree with him and has declared that he will make their lives wretched. However, before Fonda could continue, a moderator for the campaign event interrupted, stating that Sen. Ed Markey was about to speak at the virtual event.
The Democratic Party has an official organization, Democrats Abroad, which helps American citizens living overseas to register to vote and stay informed about important policy issues during elections. Approximately three million U.S. citizens reside abroad and cast their ballots overseas, as per the Federal Voting Assistance Program.
On Thursday afternoon, a campaign event lasting hours was held by the group on Zoom, featuring elected Democratic officials and Hollywood elites discussing their support for the Harris-Walz ticket to those residing overseas.
Encouraging viewers to vote against Trump, Hollywood stars such as Kyra Sedgewick, Rob Reiner, Alfre Woodard, and Fonda, as well as former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, former Attorney General Eric Holder, and Rep. Adam Schiff, delivered short remarks.
The upcoming November election is crucial because one of the two top tickets will lead us in the wrong direction, as the Orange Man has made it clear that on day one, if elected, he will prioritize drilling for oil over addressing the climate crisis. The world cannot afford another four years of neglecting this existential crisis, and we need a strong democracy. Unfortunately, the Orange Man has also shown that he is not a fan of democracy.
Pelosi criticized Trump, referring to him as "what's his name" and stating that "our democracy is at stake" during this election cycle. She expressed gratitude for being the speaker of the House on Jan. 6, 2021, when Trump's supporters breached the U.S. Capitol, rather than a Republican House leader.
Pelosi stated that she was glad to have been the speaker on January 6 of the previous year, as if it had been a Republican speaker, the outcome would have been different. She emphasized that Hakeem Jeffries must be the Speaker of the House on January 6, and that it was up to her to make that happen. She expressed no burden or responsibility for the decision.
During the 2024 campaign cycle, Trump's political statements and policies have been "chilling," as argued by Eric Holder, the former attorney general under the Obama administration.
Donald Trump has told his MAGA base that they only need to vote this time and they won't have to do it again, which is a chilling statement, according to Holder.
Earlier this year, Holder joined the Harris campaign to lead the vetting process of potential running mates before Walz was announced as the candidate last month.
This election cycle, absentee ballots will be sent to members of the military and voters overseas 45 days before the election, with the ballots being sent out by Sept. 21.
