In a surprising turn of events, VP Harris publicly praised Biden during the DNC's opening night, expressing gratitude for his leadership.
Vice President Harris declared to the boisterous Democratic convention audience, "We triumph when we engage in conflict."
In Chicago on Monday night, Vice President Harris gave unexpected remarks at the Democratic National Convention and commended President Biden, calling him "incredible" and expressing gratitude for his leadership.
Harris expressed his delight at being with everyone in the hall and those at home during the United Center's opening night of the convention.
"Let's make this week a fantastic one. To begin, I want to honor our exceptional president, Joe Biden, who will be delivering a speech tonight. Joe, thank you for your remarkable leadership, your lifelong commitment to our country, and for all the incredible things you will accomplish in the future. We are eternally grateful for your service. Thank you, Joe."
When Harris gazes upon the crowd, she perceives the "splendor of our magnificent country."
"We are all here, regardless of where we come from or what we do, and we share a common vision for our country's future," Harris stated. "In November, we will unite and make it clear that we are moving forward as one people."
In conclusion, Harris stated, "Guided by our love of country and optimism, hope, and faith, we can fight for the ideals we cherish. Despite our differences, we share more in common than we realize. Let us always remember that when we unite, we triumph. God bless you, God bless the United States of America, and goodnight everyone."
President Biden's planned speech at the convention was preceded by Harris' prime time remarks, which occurred at around 8 PM CST.
A month ago, Biden was viewed as the presumptive Democratic presidential candidate after winning every Democratic primary race without opposition.
After a poor debate performance against former President Trump in June, Democrats urged Biden to abandon his re-election campaign.
Earlier this week, Axios reported that Biden was "shocked" by the circumstances and the pressure from within his own party to withdraw from the presidential race.
