In a Pennsylvania firehouse, Biden responds to the question "Do you remember your name?" by saying "Don't eat dogs and cats."
On September 11, 2021, in Shanksville, Pennsylvania, Biden engaged in a moment of levity by trading his hat for a Trump hat.
During a visit to a Pennsylvania firehouse on Wednesday, President Biden elicited laughter from the crowd when he was questioned about his memory and put on a Trump hat, while seemingly telling the audience not to consume dogs and cats.
In Shanksville, Pennsylvania, near the site of the 9/11 tragedy, Biden visited a firehouse and attended the 23rd annual observance of the Flight 93 National Memorial to pay tribute to the victims of the hijacking.
Biden's video shows him trading his presidential seal hat for a Trump hat worn by a man.
Biden agrees to autograph the man's hat when asked.
"Do you remember your name?" a man asks.
"I can't recall my name, and I'm sluggish," Biden quips, eliciting laughter from the audience.
When Biden exchanges the presidential hat for the Trump hat, the man requests Biden's autograph on the Trump hat, but Biden responds with a firm "No!" as the crowd erupts in laughter.
Biden initially refuses to wear the Trump hat, but eventually puts it on, earning applause and cheers from the crowd.
But what came out of Biden’s mouth next raised some eyebrows.
The president cautioned the crowd, "Be mindful not to consume dogs or cats."
Biden may have been alluding to allegations made by former President Trump during his debate with Vice President Harris on Tuesday that Haitian migrants in Ohio were consuming residents' dogs and cats.
No credible or detailed reports have been made about the claims, officials have stated.
On September 6, a post on X shared a screenshot of a social media post from Springfield, Ohio, that claimed a neighbor's daughter's friend saw a cat hanging from a tree to be butchered and eaten, and without evidence, stated that Haitians lived at the house.
A photo of a man carrying a Canada goose by its feet was shared on social media and received numerous likes and comments.
