In 24 hours after debating Trump, Harris earns a substantial amount of money.
Since becoming the Democrats' 2024 vice presidential candidate, Kamala Harris has surpassed former President Donald Trump in the fundraising race.
In the 24 hours after her debate with former President Donald Trump on Tuesday night in Philadelphia, the Vice President Kamala Harris campaign raised $47 million from nearly 600,000 donors.
Jen O'Malley Dillon, Harris campaign chair, stated that the 24-hour haul is historic and reflects a growing coalition of Americans supporting Vice President Harris' candidacy, who understand the importance of defeating Donald Trump in November.
The first in-person meeting between Harris and Trump occurred on Tuesday, two and a half months after Biden's poor performance against Trump in their June debate in Atlanta.
Biden's unsteady appearance and uneven answers raised doubts about his ability to handle another four years in the White House, prompting calls from his own party to end his re-election bid. Biden later suspended his 2024 campaign and supported his vice president as the Democrats' presidential nominee.
The New York Times first reported the latest Harris cash haul, which indicates a rise in fundraising for the vice president since she became her party's standard-bearer.
The Trump campaign had not released any fundraising figures after the debate when this report was published.
In August, the Harris campaign raised $361 million, which is almost three times the $130 million collected by the Trump campaign.
In the debate spin room, Michael Whatley, Republican National Committee chair, stated to Planet Chronicle Digital that "the Democrats consistently have a substantial amount of funds."
He assured that they have the necessary resources to effectively communicate their message to voters and feel confident in their ability to successfully complete the campaign and achieve victory on November 5.
Trump announced on Thursday via social media that he would not participate in another debate with the vice president.
At a rally in Charlotte, North Carolina, an hour later, Harris stated, "I believe it is crucial for us to have another debate because the significance of this election and its outcomes cannot be overstated."
